Obama NAACP Speech - Video »
Posted By TimALoftis 6 months, 3 weeks ago in Political NewsNEW YORK - President Barack Obama on Thursday traced his historic rise to power to the vigor and valor of black civil rights leaders, telling the NAACP that the sacrifice of others "began the journey that has led me here." The nation's first black president bluntly warned, though, that racial barriers persist.
"Make no mistake: The pain of discrimination is still felt in America," the president said in honoring the organization's 100th convention.
White House aides said the President had been working on the speech for two weeks. Obama urged African-Americans to be realistic about some of the difficulties they may face, but to remember that "your destiny is in your hands."
"We've got to say to our children, Yes, if you're African American, the odds of growing up amid crime and gangs are higher. Yes, if you live in a poor neighborhood, you will face challenges that someone in a wealthy suburb does not have to face. That's not a reason to get bad grades, that's not a reason to cut class, that's not a reason to give up on your education and drop out of school," he said. "No one has written your destiny for you. Your destiny is in your hands - and don't you forget that."

Hey Obama if it wasn't for white people you wouldn't be president.

Where is the praise for the white people who voted for him and put him in office? How come it's always, "we are a racist country and we need to fight all racists"? Never any praise for the white Liberals and moderates that voted the guy into office because THEY AREN'T RACIST. -

Ok... So our black President addressed a racist organization which only fights for the rights of "colored" {NAACP} people and said how there is still racism in America today?

There is a black in the supreme Court, A black Attorney General, a black President, a black head of the RNC, 2 past black Secretary's of State, and lots of black Senators and Congressmen.
Lets face it.
If racism was in the past there would be no jobs for Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton or the NAACP.
That's why they won't admit to equality.
There would no longer be a need for them.
I feel that the racism is in the 95% of black people that voted for Obama just because he is half black.
No other reason.
Just his color.
Pure racism.-

"I feel that racism is in the 95% of black people that voted for Obama..."

That is the must moronic comment that I have read all week. He "feels that "95%" of blacks voted due to racism. That coming from the most racist member of Propeller only adds to his most dubious remark.
LOL! That comment sounds more like it came from Johnny Carson's Carnac the Magnificent. Since when do feelings translate into racial profiles with percentages? How imbecilic do these comments get?
"I feel that 89% of all white mothers of black children voted against McCain" WTF!
We need to get automan a drum roll when he presents these pearls of lunacy. Next...
