Sarah Palin Attends Religious Sword Ceremony on Tax Payer’s Buck »
Posted By Spadecaller 5 months, 2 weeks ago in NewsLast year Sarah Palin interrupted her schedule of state business and spent Alaska state taxpayer money to fly down from Juneau to the Mat-Su Valley where she attended two religious events dominated by the Wasilla Assembly of God, which is demonstrably Palin's key Alaska church.
In the lead-up to the Obama Presidential election, a breakdown of mainstream media failed to inform the voting public about the militant nature of the Christian religious observance that Sarah Palin was demonstrably heavily linked to. Considering that this is by far the weirdest socio-theological connection a high office candidate has ever had, the question lingers: why did mainstream media fail to inform voters about this candidate. Considering her plans to run again in the next Presidential election, why is mainstream media continuing to neglect exposure of this material?

With the passing of Walter Cronkite, I was struck by the vast difference of the media today. The politicization and the control of media by its owners and sponsors have changed the business of reporting the news drastically since his days.
This particular story remains a puzzlement; a top potential party leader of the GOP, Sarah Palin, has a background that is purposely being insulated from scrutiny by mainstream media. WHY?-

Getting desperate are you? Have to bash Palin about anything. Governors attend all kinds of special ceremonies but only Palin is not allowed. Obama went to a Broadway play at the huge expense of the US taxpayer but that is OK. Governors are not followed and preceded by a huge group of Secret Service with State and local police thrown in to boot.

It's a security risk for the President to fly in anything, but a secure government plane. Also remember the nuclear phone always travels with him.

To keep costs down Obama did not use Air Force One. Sarah Palin has grossly abused her expenses paid by the state.
She had to pay back for charges she made for her kids. She charges the state for living in Wasilla a lot when she has a Governor's Mansion.
Her religion is a private matter, but Sarah Barracuda clearly belongs to an extremist church and has very strange beliefs. Sarah Barracuda lectures the world about family values.
Well. let's see. She was pregnant when she married Todd. Her unwed daughter got pregnant at 17 and dumped the father at 18 after their son was born. Palin's husband tried to fire their former brother-in-law. a state trooper, after he had a bitter divorce with Sarah Barracuda's sister. Todd's half sister was arrested after being caught breaking into a neighbor's home.
Sarah Barracuda belongs to a Pentecostal movement that believes the rich and powerful are chosen by God and other members of society are duty bound to make them richer and more powerful.
It's the same beliefs that the hypocrites from Congress who live or have lived on the House on C Street in Washington D.C. used. Three of those hypocrites were caught cheating on their wives. Mark Sanford went there for counseling.
Did C in the street stand for the Cheat House? Or -- if you want to get vulgar -- the C word that ends in t? -

The author of this article is not only grasping at straws, he or she is also not very bright at all when it comes to the religious history of presidential candidates and the religious histories of our actual elected presidents, themselves.

While religious "weirdness" is certainly in the eye of the beholder, very few people would rate Palin's religious beliefs higher on the "weirdness" scale than the Masonic beliefs and ties to the illuminati of 8 of our first ten presidents....or even more recently, Richard Nixon's upbringing in the Shaker church.
Education.....when did it stop being a prerequisite to hold yourself out as a journalist?
Walter Cronkite is rolling over in his freshly dug grave.....

I find the religious group to be very scary. However, I don't consider Palin to be a viable candidate for the offices of president or vice president in 2012, so I don't care about her religious affiliation. If Alaskans want to take her to task for spending taxpayers' monies for other than their intended purposes, that's fine. As far as I'm concerned, her fifteen minutes are up. She continues to be irrelevant. Why during the campaign and election there was not more focus on her religious beliefs, as you wondered, Spade, I don't know. Who in the media can we trust today?

I think you are right. But in politics, the truth matters little; it's perception that makes and breaks candidates.
I remember how Nixon who was an integral supporter of Senator Joseph McCarthy should have withered and disappeared from politics, but the public forgot his track record. Our nation paid dearly for that "oversight".
Ronald Reagan, who was a long shot for both the governor and the presidency, was initially rejected as a national candidate. Have we not paid dearly for his contribution to our economic mess that we have now inherited?
If George Bush could be elected to a second term and Barack Obama could be elected at all, Sarah Palin could also do some fancy pageant walking up to the white house. Furthermore, if the same problem that is giving Palin a break from the scrutiny that she deserves should end up benefiting Mike Huckabee, I would not be surprised either.
So academically speaking and for the purpose of exposing the media bias, I think this is a vitally important issue. Obama is still being examined by msm and the kooks in media who thrive on questioning his citizenship or his alleged devotion to Islam. There is a serious double standard when it comes to religion and the candidates. Why?
When Americans get lazy and look the other way, pretty disastrous events take place. Has history not proven that out so far? -

I find the religious beliefs of political candidates to be highly important. Especially, when they claim to be faithful followers of their particular belief. If they want to be a public figure and hold a public office, nothing they do should be exempt from scrutiny.

Do you notice the disparity of coverage? Look how the media delves into the religious backgrounds and associations of Barack Obama and compare it to its anemic coverage of right wing religious extremist organizations. There is no comparison. But what stands out is that the media will promote the Huckabees and Palins and yet leave out the coverage of organizations that are opposed to separation of church and state. This imbalance is dangerous for a society struggling to be a democracy. How dangerous? I am learning. What about you? -

"So what? Tax payers have paid for your abortions, you can pay for a religious function."
Abortions are legal in this country. And your taxes make those abortions yours too.
Religious functions of any kind do not deserve money from our government according to the law.
But considering your disapproval of the law of the land, you might want to find a different country to live in. Or you can become a domestic terrorist and defy the laws altogether. -

Tax payer money has also paid for illegal wars, assassination squads, dropping bombs on innocent children & pregnant women, torture, the revocation of Habeus Corpus, torture & countless other abhorrent acts. Many of those acts just in the past administration.
Where were you when all that was going on?
And don't you realize that some abortions are MEDICALLY REQUIRED????
Dropping bombs on pregnant women & torture are NOT required. And at taxpayers' expense.
All while people go hungry, lose their homes, have their schools crumbling around their heads & have bridges fall out from under them - the things taxpayers' money SHOULD be used to help. -

As some foolish critics would like to characterize my fascination with Sarah Palin as morbid, the truth is something entirely different. The fair and competent coverage of all candidates and their extremist connections with other organizations should be of paramount importance to voters.
Reply
It is one of the reasons why the media was once considered the fourth and unofficial branch of government, as it can protect us from ignorance and can warn us about a potentially dangerous candidate.
The failure of the media in the past decade to challenge our leaders and their outside connections has threatened our nation and left us vulnerable to the damages of war and financial exploitation.
So this story has a value that may elude the vision of GOP partisan hacks like my friendly critic who would like to goof on my fascination with the pageant queen; but for those who care more about the direction of our nation and want to preserve and protect our constitution, I believe this topic is valuable and should be discussed respectfully.-

June 7th, 2008 was a Saturday
And
June 8th was a Sunday, uhmm , what state business was scheduled on a Saturday or Sunday?
Why did the author leave that little fact out?
“who then quoted Psalms 149 verses 6-9”
Naw, wait ya mean at Church, on a Sunday, someone actually had the audacity to quote from the bible!
Help me out here cuz I belong to no religion, and attend no church, but isn’t that kinda sorta what goes on in churches on Sunday?
“In the lead up to the November 4th, 2008 presidential election there was an almost total failure, of not only mainstream but also alternative media and even bloggers, to inform the American voting public about the very specific and militant nature of the Christian religious tendency Sarah Palin was demonstrably heavily linked to”
Ahhhh there were a lot of bogus charges thrown at Palin, however I don’t recall her or anyone else trying to hide the fact that they went to church.
Me think it was pretty well know Palin went to church.
And the idiots wonder why all 20 out of 20 ethics complaints have been thrown out.
It’s cuz they don’t pass the laugh test, like this one
ROFLMAO!!!-

In May President Obama took his wife on a dinner and theater date on Broadway. To accomplish this the Secret service must get there first. The air coverage is done by the Air Force for the air part of the trip. At any landing there are already Secret service people along with state and local cops there to screen any people that would normally be in the vicinity. At the final air destination Secret service would be there with State and local police and the presidential limo would be waiting as well. State and local police would have the presidential limo in a bubble closing down streets before, after and to the sides as the limo traveled through town to the restaurant where the secret service would already be there and have chased out any people thay did not want there. After eating the limo process would be the same to the Broadway theater along wing the security already in place in the theater. After the show the limo routine would reverse the process to get to the appropriate airport for their return to the White House.
Reply
This is the normal procedures for presidential travel. How many millions do you think this cost the tax payers to give them this dinner theater date????
Where is the outrage?? Palin goes to a place by herself and that is horrible. Compare the costs and explain why I should be irritated about Palin going. -

Even though I have never gone to church, I along with most folks would not find it odd or strange or illegal that Religion is discussed at places of worship on days of worship.
I’d bet the number of people who would find that odd or shocking are about the same as the number of people who would find that odd or shocking Gasoline is burned by NASCAR Cars, on race day at a NASCAR event.-

Injest, you seemed to have missed a memo or two. The first ethics complaint was the now famous "troopergate", a complaint filed by the Alaska legislature which is controlled by Republicans (her fellow party members). After an extensive investigation in which cooperative witnesses were deposed under oath she was found to be guilty of the accused ethical violation by a bipartisan investigation committee and the legislature.
Reply
The second complaint was the one she filed against herself at the direction of the McCain campaign in order to blunt the original investigation which was still in the process at that time. It went before an ethics panel of three people, all appointed by a governor (not necessarily Palin) but serving at the will of the governor. It conducted a hasty investigation with no oaths or subpoena power and "vindicated" her.
Subsequent complaints went before the ethics board and not all have been settled at this point. At least one complaint involved the state paying to fly her family around with her when she was on state business using commercial flights and charging their lodging expenses also. That has already resulted in the state being reimbursed by Palin for those costs. One pending complaint is that Sarah charged the state per-diem expenses for living at home in Wasilla instead of state provided mansion in Juneau. This involves tens of thousands of dollars and will probably be influenced by decisions by the IRS on whether that needed to be reported as income (she didn't report it) or not. In the end the ethics board decision might not mean much anyway.

No one was perfect except Jesus Christ !!!!!!
So why do the Republicans and the Neo Cons worship their former leaders as if they were the Lord Himself ????
Why do some Democrats do the same for some of their former leaders ???
Because they have forgotten that these are just men, they see them as the hope of the future instead of the tools they are.
Remember that God is in control and He will put who He will in office, so that the things that must be done will be done.
To me politics are the work of the devil, he divides us by the lying tounges of man and woman in order to acheive the split needed to break many's beliefs.
Look at all the false hoods spread by the conservatives and the liberals in their "churches" today.
Does it not remind one of the days before Jesus walked the earth ??? When conservatives tried to tell everyone they had to follow the rules they added to the Bible in order to be holy, and the liberals were saying that no there were many ways to God.
Then Jesus Christ came and said He was the way to God, the only way !!!!
Still the politicians are trying to invade the church today with their lies.
Bottom line.
Politicians- most of them- are only in it for their gain and the gain of their sponsors. There are very few true Christians in politics today.
Look at the fruit they bare, then see if they are what they claim to be. -

I can't think of a single thing. She doesn't understand the law, she incites violence, she preaches abstinence-only education when her own and her family's experience proves it doesn't prevent pregnancy, she abandoned her responsibilities to those who voted her in by resigning, and she lies.
No politician is perfect, but many are far closer to perfect than Palin.

I almost hate to have to agree with injest but this thread did wander from what I saw as the main point of the article. I see two problems.
Reply
Sarah flew home on the state nickle to attend this church service. I personally don't have a problem with this as it is rather petty to deny her that right. The expense is probably legit and and small change in the big picture anyway.
She has every right to attend the church of her choice and there was no indication that any tax money was involved in the church function.
The only point I can see is that many, in fact probably most folks, would see the ceremony a little bizarre and coupled with the previous witchcraft incident and other of Sarah's stated beliefs would support contentions that her religious beliefs are not mainstream and might even influence her governance should she be elected to another office.
I see no reason to not let her pray with witch doctors and play with swords as long as she doesn't hold political office where she would try to push a religious agenda.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ??????
Perhaps you should spend some time studying the Bible.
Then you might see where it is offensive to some to give children swords and tell them that they are the warriors of God.
The Word of God is a two edged sword to properly divide right and wrong.
Give the Child a Bible and tell them to read it, study it, learn it.
In doing this you have properly armed the child or adult with the defense and offense they will need when dealing with the enemy. It says to put on the full armor of God.
Not to give the child a sword made by the hands of a human being, that will only bring them death.
Get a real knowledge of God and what He wants, He prefers repentance over sacrifice, forgiveness over revenge, Love over hate.
Relax and try listening to the word of God in your mind and heart instead of with your self righteous attitude. You may actually learn something. -
