You are absolutely right. And Obama is one of the snakes. Perhaps better said, Obama is one of the "snake charmers" since there is such an enormous divergence between what he says in his "messages" to the American people and what his administration actually does.

FTA:
""It has been the position of President Obama that individuals who were operating in good faith on behalf of the government should not be held acountable, investigated or prosecuted for their actions or their legal opinions."""
And to think that it was patriotic Americans that believed in democracy who DENIED that criminals could get off because "they were following orders" when we established the Nuremburg principles. How badly our democracy has degenerated since then.

The article exposes the politics of bad behavior. If you are "in" seems the Court rules that you are "acting in good faith", if you are "out", the opposite is the case. And this reasoning is not restricted to torture only. What seems to be clearly illustrated is that the Court is working with the White House in power at the time of the infraction.
Doesn't it seem to be worrisome that a hungry man can steal a loaf of bread and go to jail for his criminal activity, but people in high places can steal, murder, torture, and start immoral wars against innocent people and they seem to have the protection of the Court. Something is seriously wrong with this reality.
And worse yet we seem to put up with it. -

Why stop with John Yoo? He was just following orders.

Like the Nazi war criminals. The concentration camp guards were liable and should have been punished. But the Nuremberg Trials went after the leaders and generals.
As a matter of fact, the Nuremberg Trials are a perfect example of what should be done. NO ONE was executed. One general was sentenced to death in absentia. Two committed suicide. 2 or 3 died of natural causes in prison. The rest were released or acquitted upon re-trial or due to ill health. -
