I'm not an atheist, but I still want "In God We Trust" removed from the Capitol visitors center...and from our money. It clearly violates the 1st amendment in either location.

Not that anything will ever come of objecting to the motto. The Supreme Court has already allowed it to stand--not because of the motto's religious significance, but exactly the opposite--because it's devoid of any religious meaning.
Justice Brennan wrote in Lynch v. Donnelly, 465 U.S. 668 (1984):
I would suggest that such practices as the designation of "In God We Trust" as our national motto, or the references to God contained in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag can best be understood, in Dean Rostow's apt phrase, as a form a "ceremonial deism," [Footnote 2/24] protected from Establishment Clause scrutiny chiefly because they have lost through rote repetition any significant religious content. I don't think it should be removed from the Capitol Visitors Center. In true neo-con fashion, it should be left there and all funding for maintainence removed. That way these people could still enjoy it while defering the cost of maintainence and removal to their children and grandchildren. With any luck, the children and grands will (sensibly) decide to have it restored (using borrowed money at substantially increased cost to their kids and grands) instead of removing it. It's a win win for neo-cons. They get to keep their monument to god and pass on the cost for at least 2 generations.

I wish they would go after Christmas wow,if they think adults are a tough nut to crack.I don't understand the misery these pitiful souls are enduring.I don't see a practical case for the democratic party as it is today to exist, but I can live with it.So my advise is to go home, and hug your children, and live, and let live.
