David Boies , one-half of the legal dynamic duo working on the federal Prop 8 case alongside Ted Olson , wrote an op-ed piece in today's Wall Street Journal that is certain to pull some LGBT folks with doubts about the strength and timing of this lawsuit off the fence.

      i agree, dandt, especially:

      "There are those who sincerely believe that homosexuality is inconsistent with their religion -- and the First Amendment guarantees their freedom of belief. However, the same First Amendment, as well as the Due Process and Equal Protection clauses, preclude the enshrinement of their religious-based disapproval in state law."

      time to stop using selective religious objections to deny 10% of our population the right to marry.

        "The argument in favor of Proposition 8 ultimately comes down to no more than the tautological assertion that a marriage is between a man and a woman."

        Why this irrational assertion to only one definition for "marriage"? Tradition, religion and prejudice are never good reasons to deny equal rights.
