Comedian Lewis Black Hits GOP For Demonizing Health Care Reform - Video »
Posted By TimALoftis 4 months, 1 week ago in Political OpinionComedian Lewis Black reviewed Republicans’ arguments against health care reform Wednesday on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show. The comedian singled out Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell who was quoted as saying “I had a friend of mine in Florida who lost a friend in Canada because the government decided he was too old for a certain kind of procedure.”
Black didn’t buy McConnell’s story. “Your anti-health care anecdote is a friend of a friend? That’s not even enough proof for an urban legend. I have a friend of a friend who brought home a dog from Mexico then he shaves it. It turns out someone had stolen its kidney and replaced it with a polaroid picture of my tooth brush up Richard Gere’s ass. Go figure. If you can’t give me any evidence then at least do the honorable thing and confuse me,” joked Black.

Outstanding video clip. Everything he said is spot on. Republicans would rather prevent 50 million people from having health insurance. They would rather line the pockets of the fabulously wealth who all have a 100% likelihood of dying at some point in their lives.

The fact that things like breast cancer has to wait 4 months for treatment in Canada is so funny. This person absolutely does not even know what the republicans are talking about. Hilary care with people allowed it become doctors and their specialty would be chosen for them. And that is funny.

I guess that liberals have to demonize any objection to their ideas. Demonizing things is only funny to those who are the true believers of the liberal religion.-

It's statements like that, that make your posts laughable. Only characterless, ill tempered sheep would stoop to accusing the opposition of something that the republicans are famous for. "Rovian" politics. Your guys invented it. If you have nothing to offer, attack the other guy.
Maybe you think the majority of your citizens are as dumb as dirt and will fall for that pathetic attempt at smoke and mirrors. Me, I give them more credit.

Ok, now how about some facts.

I had to take both my sons to see doctors last week. Rather than waiting to make an appointment with one of our family doctors, my wife has a doctor, I have a different doctor, one that I chose to go see about thirty years ago. I liked him so I have been seeing him once or twice a year for several decades. Cost to me zero. I digress.
My first son had a terrible cough, so we got in the car an went to a clinic about a mile from the house. We have clinics spread through out the city. We did have to sit in the waiting room, for about twenty minutes. We saw a doctor, got a diagnosis and received a prescription for some antibiotics. I went to a pharmacy, filled the prescription and went home. Cost to me zero. Both my wife and I have additional medical coverage supplied to us by our employers, to cover additional costs, such as drugs, dental and glasses, items not currently covered under the national plan. But, if I was homeless or on welfare, those items would be covered by the national plan.
My other son broke some bones in his foot playing lacrosse. This time I chose to take him to an emergency room in one of the three, large, ultra modern, fully equipped, hospitals we have in the city. With in the hour we were on our way home again with a brand new cast and some pain meds. Cost to me zero.
During one of my routine check ups about a decade ago, my doctor turned up some rather unpleasant information. It turns out that I had antibodies for the hepatitis virus in my blood. No symptoms just the antibodies. After about a year of rather nasty chemo treatments the antibodies became undetectable and there is no sign of the virus in my blood. Again cost to me zero. The drugs were covered under the national plan as are most drugs for the seriously ill.
I had a heart attack about six months ago. One minute my son is helping through the doors of emergency, the next thing I know, I’m in an operating room getting three stents put in. I’m fine now. Cost to me zero. Since then I’ve been back to see my family doctor twice and went to my cardiologist for a stress test. Again, did I mention that all this costs me nothing?
Over sixty percent of American bankruptcies are caused by medical costs. No one knows how many deaths are caused because people can’t afford to seek treatment.
Now tell me, what’s wrong with my medical plan?
