Most of us cooks have wanted the recipe for the KFC chicken. However, I am dismayed to find out that it calls for (1) too much salt--2 tsp. salt + 1 tsp. onion salt (3 tsp. = 1 Tbs,) is way too much salt and (2) that it calls for 2 Tbs of Accent. Accent as many may not know, is monosodium glutamate (MSG) and alters the body chemistry to make a person actually put on weight.
My son and I used to joke about Taco Bell putting something in the food that makes you want to come back for more. Actually, they do: They also put MSG into their food. What quantities, I do not know; I only know that it is put into a lot of Chinese food also--but it is addictive, it alters the body chemistry and after the body chemistry is altered, it is far too easy to gain weight. Obesity is an epidemic in this country, and I have to include myself. I'm staying away from KFC, Taco Bell and Chinese food, and I haven't used MSG in my own cooking for years. It is a flavor enhancer, and makes food taste better, but the dangers are too great to use it.
By all means, try the recipe, but limit salt to 1 tsp. onion salt and leave out the MSG. You'll be healthier (and happier) for it.
