I like the idiotic commits that come out of Rachel's month. As long as she keeps talking , liberals will always be seen as whiners that will attack you personnely. But will never debate the issues. because they know they will lose the arguement of ideals.

Thanks for posting this, jovial. Maddow is freaking awesome and she handled an awkward situation extremely well. At first I wasn't sure it was fair for her to correct statements he had made in the earlier broadcast (given that he wasn't there to rebut her corrections) but because she was correcting demonstrably false statements (and not opinions), that seemed perfectly reasonable.

I always feel a bit sheepish going after old folks who stumble into a "Jimmy the Greek" moment (McCain's "THAT one" reference to Obama being a recent example), Buchanan was on a raging, full scale, double-barreled, racist *tirade.* My jaw was on the floor the whole time he was ranting and he didn't seem to care or have a clue that his statements were outrageous. I hadn't seen this side of Maddow before and I hope to see it more.

Pat B. is an as* !!!!
Reply
He is a braying donkey, who should not be listened to anymore.
This country has a history of enslaving the poor who want a better chance. Ethnicity played a part but caucasions also suffered for the stupidity of the wealthy plantation owners.
The civil war, the hatred brought upon whites who knew that slavery was wrong, and still to this day fight against it.
People far to often look at skin color, gender, or national origin as the telling factor of a person. A persons heart and spirit are not shown in the outer shell, but by their actions and the way they treat others.
There is child slavery, women being sold into sexual slavery, and economic slavery still going on today. And the plantation owners who allow it are world wide now, but there are still some of the filth here in America !!!
They call it Corporations and they get way with many evil things in the name of economic dominance.
Not just in America but around the globe, welcome to the one world government of evil being touted as freeing the world from the hardships we face.
Pat B. is just a mouthpiece for the evil. Look at the ones implementing the economic slavery. -

I saw that exchange between Pat (the white supremacist) Buchanan and Rachel (the left hook) Maddow. He also said Sotomayor wasn't very bright and affirmative action was the reason for her college education and law degree.

Sotomayor was valedictorian at Cardinal Spellman High School. She graduated summa *** laude from Princeton. She was awarded a J.D. from Yale Law School. Not smart, huh? -

"Rachel Maddow’s show is the least of MSNBC’s worries. Her show consistently beats CNN’s Larry King among 25-54 year olds, and it in a close race with King for second in total viewers. Most progressive media outlets experienced a decline after the 2008 election. I think that the progressive audience is still out there, but anything after the 2008 election is a bit anti-climactic. Maddow still pulls the best ratings 9 PM ratings in MSNBC history, and when you consider that the network isn’t available in as many homes as CNN and FNC, her ratings are still impressive.
Reply
MSNBC will happily take the million plus viewers that Maddow and Olbermann each pull in every night, but I do wonder how big the market is for progressive political talk? Conservatives have dominated the talk format on radio for decades. It is something they are comfortable with and used to, while liberals seem to have different viewing habits. The biggest problem MSNBC has right now is with The Ed Show, which has not caught on at all. In comparison to Ed Schultz, Maddow’s ratings are a good problem for the network to have."

We watched the original show and went wild about Uncle Pat's
Reply
- c'mon they weren't misstatements they were....LIES.
How about the Tuskegee Airmen.........they were white?
How about the Asian American unit in WWII Europe,
the 442nd infantry of the 100th battalion?
They were indeed the MOST DECORATED of any group of military men during World War II.
They were the sons of the Japanese immigrants, most of whom had lived in Hawaii. While their fathers were often sent to the prisoner of war camps in California, the sons went off to war. They fought the Germans in Europe while their fathers fought prejudice in the United States. Yet they wanted to prove their loyalty to the American government and did so by volunteering to serve in the United States Army.
Pat should be ashamed that he deliberately excluded the contributions of AMERICANS because of their color....probably why affirmative action was a necessary evil in the first place,
don't you think? I can't wait until it is no longer necessary,
I am not fond of it. I truly believe Dr.King was correct about the content of one's character, but how hilarious that Mr.Buchanan gives us an object lesson FOR it's original purpose.
Don't ever let this guy near a history class! -

Watching Buchanan and reading some of the pro-him comments here and elsewhere just makes me despair.
Reply
Suddenly it's 1955. Or it's always been, and will continue to be for a part of the population that cannot accept human diversity--that, for whatever reasons having to do with fear and ignorance and a sense of personal powerlessness (see "fear," above) needs to maintain the illusion of white (heterosexual) supremacy.-

--They aren't so much pro him as they are anti- anything left of center. Like most Republicans, Buchanan is totally expendable. If he were to say one negative thing about the right, he'd be banished to the neocon's "he's really a liberal in disguise" zone.

Thanks for this followup to the clip I posted the other day, jov. I wish Rachel had used these facts when Pat was on a tear the other day, but I think she was just blindsided by his racist assault. I'm glad she covered this point by point....

I watched and commented on that clip you are referring to (thanks for sending it to me). I felt Rachel didn't do as well defending her point against Pat as she usually does with other guests.
I think Rachel handled this situation very well by doing this follow-up address of the issues she and Pat had discussed. It is unfortunate that she was unable to make these points while having the discussion with Pat as it would have had a better impact on both Pat and the viewers, but her clarifications are obviously still valid.

Here in lies the problem today anybody with any color skin except white is a victim. So if you want to criticise anyone,or any group they must be white, and if their christian too you can really lay into them. This will put you in good stead with the socialist mob.
