Yesterday,I observed Michael Steele fielding questions about the health care crisis. When the questioner on the news asked Steele if Republicans support covering everybody, the RNC chairman grew flustered. Not knowing how to answer the question, he replied, “ I don’t do policy”.
In light of the current health care crisis Americans are rapidly losing their ability to afford medical care and quality insurance. "I don't do policy." What a pathetic comment especially at this point in time.
The head of the Republican Party revealed the sad truth about their perspective on health care reform; they do not care. They do not care about the millions of uninsured Americans. They do not care about the burden expensive premiums and exclusionary insurance policies are making on the vast majority of American taxpayers.
They only care about “killing” any initiatives to reform a system that is failing to protect Americans from medical bankruptcies. "I'm against it." That is the extent of their concern.
They do not care that some people will not survive an illness because they lack the funds and insurance to pay for the medical attention for which they are in dire need. Steele was right; the GOP does not do policy, they only like to destroy it. They are against it.
And now after laughing from viewing this old comic routine, I heard in the background the TV news airing once again. And, once again I observed Michael Steele attempting to answer a simple question; “What insurance company supplies you with your health insurance.”
Appearing flustered by the question, he first answered, “Blue Cross – Blue Shield,” but then he quickly retracted that admitting that he was not quite sure.
High paid insurance advertisements costing millions and staged attack ads by lobbyists designed to defeat health care reform can and will do little to nothing to combat the truthful revelations that these two short encounters with Michael Steele revealed.
Most Americans care about their health insurance. They care desperately about helping their children receive medical care that they cannot afford. They care about health care reform. They know the name of the insurance company that sends them their monthly premiums that they may or may not be able to pay this month. And, if they do not know the name of their health care provider, it is because they are uninsured.
We can laugh about this and should, but the GOP obstructionists need to step out of the way and let the American people get the help that they deserve. American taxpayers have provided Congress with the best health insurance available. The time has come to provide Americans with the same.-

Even the pro business conservatives want relief from the burden of the high cost of health care so they can compete internationally, as it stands the U.S. is the only developed nation that has no national health care system. This allows businesses from other nations to have much lower overhead. Despite wherever it is that Locky gets disinformation from, there is no such plan to make anyone change their provider, or effect Dr.-patient relationships. Only some regulation...like not being dropped if you actually need health care, and allowing your Dr. to make more decisions about treatment instead of insurance companies who could care less if you die as long as they make a profit. In today's world I believe no child should go to bed hungry, and no human should be turned away from being treated if they are sick. It just does not need to happen. We are better than this. We shall have to wait and see if the bill actually provides any real reforms, the insurance industry is spending millions a day in lobbying against healthcare reform...of course they have many more millions a day in profits to protect don't they? And why should they make such huge profits on the backs of the people and businesses now suffering dramatically from the weight? Who defends this? Why? It is much cheaper to cover everyone than to have people w/o coverage go to emergency rooms all the time when they get sick. (that cost is passed on to you in the form of high premiums and and $50 Tylenol pills anyway. Incidentally the argument that government can't do this efficiently like private sector companies can is a canard, if it weren't, what reason would the industry have to fight against it so hard?
