it was 186 with an additional 7 that were cancelled.

they were built with the idea that they'd be maintainable. that was one of the problems with the F-14. great aircraft but it needed intensive maintainance. its replacement, the F-18 is easier to work on.
the F-22 is supposed to replace the F-15 but its expense of $142M a copy makes it, long term, unaffordable.
the question that i have to ask is why DON'T we sell them to Japan and Israel, both of which have begged to buy them. at that fly away price, it means a great number of high paying jobs that are export dollars. with this bill, those jobs are gone. who does that benefit?-

The American public. It's amazing that all you hypocritical GOP supporters scream "socialism" when Obama wants to keep children from dying with healthcare or social programs but scream about how he's killing America when he stops a socialist program of building F-22s, a plane that the majority of military analysts say will be relatively useless. -
