Almost all of the allegations in the article are lies. If you read the bill, you can see why.
I'd argue against them point by point, as I have nearly all day every day this week, but you and others out here continue to spread disinformation anyway. There's just not much point anymore--it's like talking to a brick wall.
If anyone reading this hasn't already formed an opinion and has an open mind to the truth but is truly concerned about the false allegations in this bill, send me a private message and I'll explain why this tremendously oversimplified article is misstating what's actually in the bill. -

Regarding the most serious fear-mongering allegation you're attempting to spread to the gullible, the lie you repeated in your above comment that says under the public health plan, doctors may write an end of life order against your wishes, I just can't allow that to go unrefuted.
Reply
Section 1233 involves making a living will of the kind you already make upon admittance to a hospital for surgery. It specifies the patient's wishes while in the case something should happen that renders the patient unable to communicate.
Here is the full portion of the subsection (from pages 429 and 430) your article misrepresents. I have highlighted the relevant subsection that refutes your lie:
(5)(A) For purposes of this section, the term ‘order regarding life sustaining treatment’ means, with respect to an individual, an actionable medical order relating to the treatment of that individual that—
(i) is signed and dated by a physician (as defined in subsection (r)(1)) or another health care professional (as specified by the Secretary and who is acting within the scope of the professional’s authority under State law in signing such an order, including a nurse practitioner or physician assistant) and is in a form that permits it to stay with the individual and be followed by health care professionalsand providers across the continuum of care;
(ii) effectively communicates the individual’s preferences regarding life sustaining treatment, including an indication of the treatment and care desired by the individual;
(iii) is uniquely identifiable and standardized within a given locality, region, or State (as identified by the Secretary); and
(iv) may incorporate any advance directive (as defined in section 1866(f)(3)) if executed by the individual.
Just to repeat, if anyone missed it:
The law will state that any order regarding life-sustaining treatment is required to communicate the patient's preferences regarding treatment and care desired.
Anyone who believes the kind of shocking false assertions contained in this submission from pc25 and other opponents of affordable healthcare might begin to notice a distinct pattern of lies and misrepresentations that are continually spread by the opponents of the bill, and that are easily debunked by careful reading of the bill.

I'd heard this and couldn't believe it was true. And I also heard that it will be required every 5 years after the age of 65. The "duty to die" lecture. I cannot imagine anyone who would be so mean and cruel as to support such degrading treatment of our senior citizens.

Perfect issue for states rights advocates

Perry raises possibility of states' rights showdown with White House over healthcare
Gov. Rick Perry, raising the specter of a showdown with the Obama administration, suggested Thursday that he would consider invoking states’ rights protections under the 10th Amendment to resist the president’s healthcare plan, which he said would be "disastrous" for Texas.
Interviewed by conservative talk show host Mark Davis of Dallas’ WBAP/820 AM, Perry said his first hope is that Congress will defeat the plan, which both Perry and Davis described as "Obama Care." But should it pass, Perry predicted that Texas and a "number" of states might resist the federal health mandate.
"I think you’ll hear states and governors standing up and saying 'no’ to this type of encroachment on the states with their healthcare," Perry said. "So my hope is that we never have to have that stand-up. But I’m certainly willing and ready for the fight if this administration continues to try to force their very expansive government philosophy down our collective throats."

Your comment does not quote the language in the bill, though you cited line numbers. I already explained the part of the bill you're referring to in a comment on another thread.

It's yet another lie.
The government will be able to reimburse you for expenses by directly depositing money into your account, if you elect direct deposit. Otherwise it'll mail you a check. Just like they already do with tax refunds.
Direct deposit will not be required, nor will the government be allowed to take money from your account. -

AARP does not look out for old people but makes you think they are fighting for them. They appeal to the senior's greed and tell them they're entitled to a lot of things to be provided by the government (who are taxing the younger, productive workers).

AARP wikipedia

Health insurance
Approximately seven million people have AARP branded health insurance, including drug coverage and medigap, as of April 2007 [16] and AARP earns more income from selling insurance to members than it does from membership dues. [17]
In 2008, AARP plans to begin offering several new health insurance products: An HMO for Medicare recipients, in partnership with UnitedHealth Group; and a PPO and "a high-deductible insurance policy that could be used with a health savings account" to people aged 50–64, in partnership with Aetna.
AARP will likely become the largest source of health insurance for Medicare recipients, and AARP estimates the new products will increase its health insurance customers to 14 million by 2014.[16][18] AARP is not an insurer and does not pay insurance claims.
Instead, AARP allows its name to be used by insurance companies in the sale of insurance products, for which it is paid a commission like an insurance agent.[19]
Senator Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa), senior Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, said in 2008 that the "limited benefit" insurance plans offered by AARP through UnitedHealth provided inadequate coverage and were marketed deceptively. One plan offered $5,000 for surgery that may cost two or three times that amount.[20]
In an editorial column in the Los Angeles Times, critic Dale Van Atta wrote that AARP does unauthorized lobbying for its membership, and lobbies against the best interests of its membership. Van Atta says that by lobbying for the above-mentioned Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act, AARP leaders betrayed the membership.[21]
According to an Annenberg Public Policy Center report, critics have said AARP had a conflict of interest in supporting the Act, because AARP “derives income from the sale of health and life insurance policies,” by licensing its brand to insurance dealers such as New York Life,[22] and would benefit financially from passage of the legislation.[23]
BusinessWeek magazine says that in the past questions have arisen about whether AARP's commercial interests may conflict with those of its membership, and characterizes many of the funds and insurance policies that AARP markets as providing considerably less benefit than seniors could get on their own.[24]
At present, there are two affiliated organizations: the AARP Foundation which operates on a non-profit basis and AARP Services Inc. which is managed wholly for profit. The AARP Foundation runs programs on: free tax preparation and counseling, work training for older people of low income, training of volunteers on matters concerning the elderly, crime prevention and safe driving.
AARP Services Inc. offers: Medicare supplemental health insurance, discounts on prescription drugs and consumer goods, entertainment and travel packages, long-term care insurance and automobile, home and life insurance.[25] -

I agree. They were terrible when they were pushing so hard for Bush's expensive, confusing and exploitative prescription drug plan for Medicare.
Reply
However, the fact that they support the healthcare reform bill doesn't mean it's a bad bill. It only means one organization with no credibility is among the many other good organizations that supports the bill.
Al-Qaeda supported John McCain in the last presidential election, but most of the conservatives out here wouldn't take that as reason not to vote for him.

My Fellow Americans: Pc25, Excellent Work, posting the Health Care Bill in Black and White. I'm amazed at how much opposition there is to this Truth.
Reply
Klarissa, Must be commended on her daily research concerning every little con job the opposition pulls, attempting to ruin the lives of all the American Citizens. Notice, I said Citizens.
Unfortunately there are a great deal of Americans that don't have access to the Real Truth. The only reference they have to what is actually happening in this Country and the World is what the, One Sided Press, presents. Of Course they can tune to their favorite news channel but unless it is Fox they get the same misinformation that the newspapers provide, only amped up.
What unGodly reason do they have to be so completely misleading? What exactly do they have to gain by totally lying about almost every single corrupt proposal put before the Congress? Whose side is the American Media on? Don't they care about the American way? Isn't it about time that we quit reading their Trash Packages? Isn't it about time we tune out their Propaganda Broadcast?
We must fire them, just as we would any corrupt member of our government. That's right we must start filling the mail boxes of the News Media with our messages of disapproval. We must start phoning their bosses and letting them know that we want the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, or they are out of our lives. That's right Fire Cure-it, Williams, even David Letterman, whatever it takes to protect the minds of our Children and Citizens. Time for truth in Media.
Yes, What about our Congress People? Well, we can write our Congress People, Phone them, E-Mail them and let them Know their jobs are about to be terminated. We must also let them know that we will make sure that they never get another job in the Government as long as they live. We must let them know that they will have to work for a living and suffer the same kind of Health Care, Cap and Trade, Tarp, rubbish they tried to shove down our throats. The Real American -

If this is really in the House Bill, then I am appalled. What happened to the innocuous sounding idea of a public plan in competition with private insurers (implying private insurers can choose to offer whatever coverage they deem appropriate. As a paraplegic on Medicare, he scares me, as all I hear about is how funds for my health and well being are going to be cut. I think we should make it mandatory for private insurance companies to insure everyone (including Medigap policies that currently exclude people under 65) with a ceiling premium. Lets let Obama and his family live by the guidelines above, but no one else, if this is what he favors. I'm having trouble differentiating between the lie and the truth here.

--No. Not at all. You're hopelesslyl misinformed (again). Read and comprehend:
"The decision, made evident in a court case involving a battered woman from Mexico, ends years of dispute over the issue which saw the Bush administration stall moves toward recognising domestic violence as legitimate grounds for asylum made during Bill Clinton's tenure.
The department of homeland security has told an immigration court that it regards the woman, identified only as 42-year-old LR, as potentially having grounds to apply for political asylum because she feared she would be murdered by her common-law husband who repeatedly raped her at gunpoint and tried to burn her alive when he discovered she was pregnant.
Karen Musalo, a lawyer and director of the Centre for Gender and Refugee Studies at the University of California who is representing a second woman involved in a similar asylum case, said that the move is a significant shift in policy that opens the way for physically and sexually abused women to seek the same protection that those fleeing female genital mutilation are already offered.
"There has been so much controversy and back and forth on this over many years. This finally opens the door to these women to seek protection," she said.

More dis information from the right. Hey I have an idea, let's just do nothing like the Republicans did about this. It won't be long and none of us will have insurance. Then we will have universal health care because we all will be waiting in the emergency room to get the "free care" that the Republicans claim the Mexicans are getting.
