Man is part of nature. We can roll over and die (become extinct) or we can do what we can to keep the Earth hospitable to humans, whatever the root causes of our environmental problems. Global warming aside, it would not hurt us one bit to be more conservative, not liberal, in our waste of the earth's natural resources: we face challenges to our water and food (fisheries) sources. We don't even need to cut our use, just cut our waste (profligacy). Sure there are those that feel any suggestion that they moderate such things as the length of their showers, or the length of their commute, or the size of the car they commute in, or their consumption of wild foods (such as wild salmon), is un-American, but the rest of us feel no sacrifice in not feeling obligated to "take our full share" of what is available to us, without restriction.

You crack me up, you're a stooge for the coal industry, and you lie incessantly about how wonderful burning fossil fuel is.

CO2 traps solar radiation, warming the planet.
Nobody can deny this that cares about reality and scientific truth. Nobody but charlatans paid to do so, who would smother their own children to make one more dime for the rich.

Let's add birthers to the tin foil hat lying sacks of dog crap that are paid by the neocons and racists and petroleum industry to spew propanda, either that or the brainless lockstepping cons who out of loyality to those that only read the bible out of evangelical zeal based on superstitous ignorance jump over a cliff, because baby jesus will catch them.
Reply
Freaking lying stupid con scum.
You remind me of evangelical parents, who refuse cancer treatments to their children out of superstition and ignorance.
You would legislate death to generations of children out of your blind con greed and hatred of reality. -

Holy JEEBUS! Since when did cons begin to trust scientists?

Why won't they apply the same level of skepticism (that they hold about evidence which points toward the human impacts of global warming) to this "study"?

well, this one is EASY.

the "study.”
Lets assume the study is legit (which its not). But for argument’s sake…
The study claims that they think they can attribute 80% of the current global climate change on nature (nothing concrete, mind you).
which means you have 20% left over and it looks like its cause of people. Even in this study they freely admit they can't explain that 20% as naturally occurring.
and if that 20% is because of us (which is A LOT btw) then we need to continue to move on this and do something about it.
BOTTOM LINE: even if it was legit, this "study" does nothing to prove that we should halt our efforts to combat global warming since we are still a major cause of it.

recently employed by the COMPETITIVE ENTERPRISE INSTITUTE. yes, a lobby group here in the US for BIG OIL, among others.
the CEI's main lobbying focus is DE-REGULATION for Industries that pollute, and funded by, yep, you guessed it, EXXONMOBIL, FORD MOTOR COMPANY, the SCAIFE FOUNDATION etc etc.
Long time man-made global warming denier. he admits the globe is warming but claims most of that warming happened pre-ww2, all while conveniently forgetting that a dozen of the hottest years on record happened in the last 15 years. -

Bob Carter.

In 2005, the Sydney Morning Herald said of Mr. Carter:
“Professor Carter, whose background is in marine geology, APPEARS TO HAVE LITTLE, IF ANY, STANDING IN THE AUSTRALIAN CLIMATE SCIENCE COMMUNITY.”
Doh!!
Carter has also been paid by the HEARTLAND INSTITUTE to appear as an expert at climate change conferences even though HE IS NOT QUALIFIED.
And of course, the HEARTLAND INSTITUTE is funded by EXXONMOBIL, the SCAIFE FOUNDATION, PHILIP MORRIS, WALTON FOUNDATION (Walmart), etc etc. -

John McLean.

Besides being AWESOME in the DIE HARD series, McLean is also a first class fraud. He is not a “climate data analyst” but rather a lobbyist for the “Australian Climate Science Coalition” which has nothing to do with science and is actually a part of the AUSTRLIAN ENVIRONMENT FOUNDATION, which is funded by the INSTITUTE of PUBLIC AFFAIRS, a right wing, conservative think tank based in Melbourne focused on DE-REGULATION and PRIVATIZATION.
And who funds the Institute of Public Affairs?
Among others…BHP-Billiton, Rio Tinto, and Western Mining Corp (all mining companies), Philip Morris and British American Tobacco, and 15 OIL AND POWER COMPANIES, including SHELL and ESSO AUSTRALIA, which is a subsidiary of, yep, you guessed it, EXXONMOBIL.
THAT WAS SOOOOOO EASY!!!!!-

I thought I recognized these names. I find it funny how all the deniers can rant and rave about the thousands of scientists having an agenda and shouldn't be listened to, but these scientist tied to these companies (ExxonMobil especially) and groups somehow don't have an agenda.
