But personally, I don't think gender re-assignment surgery should be covered by insurance. It may be a quality of life issue, but is definitely not a life-or-death issue.

How come I'm not surprised that a "Traditional Values Coalition" opinion is so completely out of touch with reality.
Transvestites and cross-dressers would never consider sexual reassignment surgery and aren't considered transgendered.
"She-males" is a porn industry expression and is demeaning to transsexual people just trying to be who they really are inside. -

Going by the reaction to this article, liberals would argue that our tax dollars should be spent on giving surgeries and psychiatry so they can actually "become" Napoleon.-

My question to you is.....why wouldn't it. There is so much crap going around in regards to rationing of health care, under "Universal Health Care", it almost could be deemed humor, if it were not for the fact it is an important issue. -

I am curious as to which part of the bill this article is refering to. If there is a said provision, I definately oppose it. I frankly don't see how any ethical doctor could do one of the procedures in the first place, it does seem in blatant violation of the hippocratic oath. If I came to my doctor and asked him to remove my index finger and invert it I would hope he would have reservations.

I challenge anyone on either side to come up with a good health care plan. BUT lets see if anyone one can do so using FACTS.

Let me here your health care plan. Just a few guide lines though.
1. How will illeagals be delt with?
2. A plan that covers abortion, but ONLY when medically required do to harm of the mother or other extreme curcumstances. Not one that encourages ones own illresponsibility.
3. One that is both FAIR to those who are working and those unemployed.
4. One that can be afforded.
In my opinion... Medical coverage is exactly that. Coverage for illnesses that can damage the health of an individual. Not for personal choices. The next thing we will be seeing is plastic surgery for those who just cant seem to deal with how they look.-

That deserves a response.
1. Illegal aliens…forgive me if I side step this one and try to approach it from the back door. I think way too much health care is being dispensed by emergency rooms. And that many of the treatments provided by them could be easily handled in a clinic environment. I believe a clinic can operate at a much lower overhead rate than an ER. I wonder why hospitals don’t consider using a bit of their space as a separate walk-in clinic, instead of tying up the specialized trauma and emergency facilities.
Just as thought experiment. I imagine a bunch of folks would be glad to shell out (say) $50.00 to spend 5 minutes with a doctor. My guess is that their may be a fair amount of illegal folks that would, just as soon, pay cash on the barrelhead.
2. No problem their…My wife is Catholic and had an Ectopic (tubule) pregnancy.
Two people have actually had a child from such a pregnancy but it is very rare, and it can be extremely life threatening to the mother. The bruises on our relationships shins from that hurdle are still sore, even after many years. The procedure to remedy it amounts to an abortion.

It's really clever; the religious right is of distaste for a president who wants to provide basic health care to everyone, but they'll tolerate the previous president who tortured people, bankrupted our treasury with an immoral war, and killed many innocent people.

They'll complain "it's too much money" to allow someone to get health care, but if we want to send 50 billion a month to kill women and children in a far off land that was promulgated with lies, or to line the pockets of KBR who can't even ground equipment that ends up electrocuting our own troops- That's okay with them. You see as long as their conscience is clean. As long as the suffering is done by someone else it's okay with them- they have high morals and religious values that help them look beyond the obvious.
Talk about being deceived. All you have to do is say you are against the right to choose and you can kill, rob, and hurt anyone with this uninterested bunch.
