"Mutilation or maiming is an act or physical injury that degrades the appearance or function of any living body, usually without causing death"

While I do agree that the muslim practice of female circumcision is mutilation as well, I also believe that sex change operations are as well.-

Feel free to believe that it is, obviously the medical establishment thinks otherwise.

Also, it doesn't "degrade the appearance or function of any living body," it merely changes it.
By going further with your line of thought, if you only like natural breasts you'd be opposed to people having breast implants since it, in your eyes, "degrades the appearance" of the breasts.
Just because you, or someone else, has a personal, non-scientific, dislike of something, doesn't mean that it's wrong, immoral or unethic in the eyes of professionals.-

I believe all plastic surgery in the absence of previous damage is unethical. Should it be illegal, no. Should it be illegal for someone to have a sex change, no. But any doctor who performs these operations is putting money before principles, and to a much greater degree in the case of sex change operations.

Pushing an organ inside out doesnt degrade the function?, or in the case of a female adding flesh from elsewhere in the body and covering the vulva? In both cases the biological function of the organs has been impaired.
Regardless, if someone wants a sex change mutilation they can pay for it with their own funds.-

YOUR principles. Remember that, this is based on your personal opinion.

I'd say that if a doctor is able to relieve some of the pain of being trapped in the wrong body he or she is following the hippocratic oath to the T.
Depends on your definiton of "degrading" - obviously it is no longer e.g. a penis and testicles, but post-op you can still urinate and have intercourse (with orgasm in the vast majority of cases).
And again, YOU might see it as mutilation, but the medical establishment (and a lot of others) don't.-

whatever you or others may choose to view it as it fits the definition of mutilation. You cannot deny that the biological function of said organs is destroyed in these operations, therefore the operations are by definition mutilation.
