Blue Dog Democrats May Save Us From Socialized Healthcare »
Posted By halthouse1 6 months, 2 weeks ago in Political OpinionWhy They May Save Us From Socialized Medicine
These Blue Dog Democrats in the House are not your Ted Kennedy/Henry Waxman Democrats. They are fiscally conservative politicians that were brought into the Democrat fold years ago for political expediency (Democrat retaking of Congress), and who have come back through the years to bite the Party in the butt. This is no more true than on the issue of the socialized health care bill that Nancy Pelosi is trying to get through the House...

This is a Pelosi bill. Obama has kept his distance, so if it fails, he hopes that it will not affect his popularity.

"Nancy Pelosi on the talking head shows Sunday said that when the bill goes to the floor it will have the votes to pass. In Washington speak this means she will have to give away the store in order to bring the Blue Dogs into the fold.
These conservative Democrats will hopefully have the political courage to stick by their guns and make sure, for the good of the American public not just today but for the generations going forward, that any move to socialized medicine is defeated."-

Whenever you have people using the term socialized medicine, chances are 100% they voted for Caribu Barbie to fix the economy, and are associated with the birther movement.

In other words, a moron.
Amazing that lockstepping lemmings once again side with the rich, in this case insurance monopolies denying health care to get rich.

The only thing that will be accomplished by not passing this health care bill is that we will still continue to fatten the wallets of the upper level management of the health care insurance industry and they will in turn continue to deny benefits to those that need it most. I love to see how the milk of human kindness courses through your veins Woofie and Klarissa, true heartless neocons.

The problem with these upper level managers is not their inherent greed, but that they are there to serve HR departments, not the patient.

The solution is plainly obvious: remove health care as a benefit and let patients deal directly with their choice of insurers and health care providers. Only in this manner will market forces compel insurance companies to put up or shut up.

how do you think it can be fixed to accommodate another 40 million people, simon?

the only answer it to take the "profit" out of the equation. since the industries involved won't go non-profit, the only answer is for government to pick up the slack.
fact is we won't be lucky enough this time around to get "socialized" health care. we'll be lucky if we can get some basic health insurance reforms.
i'd prefer to see a nationalized health care program...but will have to settle for a few baby steps, hopefully in that direction. -

Oh get real, you fools! We already have socialized medicine for some: Medicare and Medicaid. And socialism for the farmers in the way of farm subsidies--most of which go to the RICH CORPORATIONS, the Agribusiness corporations. As for Blue Dog Democrats and Republicans, well, it is very easy for Representatives and Senators to stonewall the Health Care bill--after all, they are already covered by the US taxpayers and have only the BEST KIND OF MEDICAL CARE AT TAXPAYERS' EXPENSE. We rank #37 in world health care--right beside Cuba (which according to Michael Moore has better healthcare than the USA.) And we are the only western nation that doesn't have comprehensive health care for its citizens. Keep swallowing that Republican propaganda, you sheeple.

PS: Go to the AARP dot org site and read their "8 Myths about the health care mess." It's also in their July/August 2009 issue. A very good article and very important. 40 million Americans are uninsured, and they go to the Emergency Rooms where they don't have to pay and they DON'T EVEN HAVE TO BE US CITIZENS! Who picks up the bills? The states and the hospitals...and the taxpayers.

What is failing is the insurance monopoly run health care, not that you are capable of comprehending that.

Ladies and Gentlemen, let us take a journey into the rotten brain of the commode man.
Amazing, the sequence of a diseased con's brain.
1. find out what the billionaire who owns faux noise has told his mullahs to spew on the tv machine.
2. get on your knees and lick the bleeding cyst of oxy cottonballs, and confirm that faux position is in line with Druggy's propanda, and it always is.
3. Confirm in your 3rd grade level brain that yes, this will make the rich richer.
4. spew the contents of the vacuum between your ears on propeller.

Our government can afford to spend a trillion dollars on an unnecessary, undeclared, illegal war, but it can't afford health care for all Americans. That's the old dilemma--guns or butter? You choose. Want to keep getting American boys and girls blown to pieces or live in peace and have some money spent on something besides killing people for oil?

these Blue dogs aren't fiscally conservative. thats a lie. they're just conservative.

the up front cost of Obama's plan is one trillion dollars over the course of ten years, or $100 billion/year.
right now we pay out $2 trillion/year in healthcare costs.
so, obama is asking for 5% more than we already pay up front in order to save much more than 5% in the long run and fix a healthcare system that is, ahem, in critical condition.
he's also asking for less than Bush laid out for the finanacial institutions. and much less than these wars have cost us (not to mention the cost of all the human life).
so...why would we bail out the financial institutions and not bail out ourselves?
and the cons are simply less interested in saving money and helping normal americans and more interesed in attacking Obama and keeping a staus quo that's literally killing us. the proof? instead of coming up with any ideas, they're putting all their money in attack campaign against the Obama plan. their ugly motivation is crystal clear to all of us.

No its not, it comes down to this though, who do you want rationing your care, the government or insurance companies?
Do your own research, all these countries on socialized plans have their own horror stories, they are not made up but very real. Does the U.S have its own horror stories, yes. But in our system, we have an added layer of protection in a socialized system, you don't.
I will make two final points, if you are ever going to move me from this issue you have to overcome.

In a world of socialized medicine, these drugs would never come to market, never. Progress won't stop, but it will be slowed greatly.
Second, you can complain about the super rich getting the elite care, but it is that type of money and resources that gives us some of our breakthroughs, and in the end we all benefit.

Fine, tell you what, let's not fix anything. Let's just let it all fall to pieces and see what happens then. The only thing the Republicans have accomplished in the last eight years is to start unnecessary wars and sending all our tax dollars overseas with our jobs. Every year companies are offering their employees less and less benefits and how are families supposed to afford coverage? Do you have any idea how much it costs to cover a family with the most basic insurance? It's about $750 every three months. And that's for a 80/20 plan with a $5000 deducible per person per year. That means you get no coverage until you pay $5000 out of your pocket first.
