I made a call to Mike Ross's office this morning and told him of our disappointment in Arkansas the he sold us out. I believe he's getting a lot of calls today as it took several calls to get through to his office. Here are the phone numbers of the four who folded.

Although I'm not exactly sure what is in your new health bill I do know for sure that you cannot afford a program like we have up here, and as I said in another comment I don't mean that as an insult, but right now is not likely the best time to be taking large chances with a whole new idea. Most likely know how I feel about a universal plan and if the economic situation was great and government spending and debt were under control I would likely be saying full steam ahead, but right now is not the time since with anything new there are mistakes made and there are always cost overruns. Changes do have to be made so that everyone has somewhat the same type of coverage and people are not left short because insurance companies dropping them, but I feel that the go slow idea on this would not be a mistake.

--What's both sad and encouraging about your comment is that your acknowledgment already puts you ahead of most right wingers in America.

--I have to strongly disagree with you here. You see, a major difference between the US and other countries is that a lack of health insurance here very often leads to financial ruin and destroyed credit ratings for Americans. Both of these things are very difficult to recover from. Imagine what a difference it would make in the lives of people who are trying to hold on to their homes and jobs and families while they slide deeper and deeper into debt because of past or current health care expenses. Imagine how unbelievably difficult it is to support a family if one or more family members has a chronic health problem that involves lots of doctor's visits and lots of medications. Well, that was me several years ago. I was out of work and actually had health insurance but had to sell my house for fear that my medical expenses would be my financial ruin. But I am very lucky. I had insurance and I've since managed to recover from my health setback. Lots of people out there with families don't have any assets and can't afford to simply sell their homes and try to regroup when the market gets better.
Also, this is not an issue that just came up out of the blue. We've known for decades that we needed healthcare reform. This is the closest we've ever been to having the perfect political environment in which to make change. We can't afford to wait until all Americans agree on every single detail of any one plan. We will never have a perfect President or a Congress made up of people who unanimously agree on major issues like this and our founding fathers wanted it that way. There is very little I can think of that would help Americans more right now than to have their worries about health care expensives lifted off their shoulders. The sooner citizens have dependable and affordable health care, the sooner they can start spending their paychecks in ways that will help rescue our economy (and not just fatten insurance company executives' bank accounts).
