I have been in situations in which my family and I needed to stop at Canadian hospitals during our travels. We found that the ER was clean, the nurses friendly, and no one asked for our insurance cards. In fact, when my wife was in need of a bandage for a surgical wound, the hospital checked her, gave her some pain medication and a bandage, and sent us on our way...with no bill.

My wife has family in Montreal who are doctors; none of whom complain about their system of care. The Republicans smear campaign against Canada should not fool anyone. Their system may not be perfect, but ours is crumbling around us.

FTA: "A good health care system reflects a country's values, and each country's values are different."

This is the crucial question Americans need to come to terms with: what are the countries values related to health care?

It makes no difference whether Canada's health care is good, bad or indifferent, unless Americans want to borrow some aspects of it after they have decided what kind of health care their own values dictate.

I have in-laws in Windsor and they all love their health care system. I don't know where these Republicans are finding these so-called Canadians who travel across the border for our medical care. Maybe they are thespians from BCBS?

I have always received the best of care, when ever I needed it.
          Works for me.
