Amazon forcibly (and ironically) recalled copies of George Orwell's "1984" and "Animal Farm" earlier this month after it was revealed that they were unauthorized.

    amazon deleted copies of animal farm and 1984, remotely off of everyone's Kindle?

    oh, the irony.

    yeah, i don't think I will be purchasing a Kindle any time soon.

    Thank Disney. Some history:

    The Copyright Act of 1790 established U.S. copyright with term of 14 years with 14-year renewal.
    The Copyright Act of 1976 extended term to either 75 years or life of author plus 50 years. (George Orwell died in 1950.)
    Disney's "Mickey Mouse Protection Act" of 1998 extended terms to 95/120 years or life plus 70 years.
