The conventional wisdom is that August is the slowest month for news, thus it's tailor-made for the "Birther" movement -- crazies that come hand-delivered to the media in their month of need, like barrel-dwelling fish that shoot themselves. Today, they're waving around a supposed "Kenyan birth certificate" for President Barack Obama without regard to the fact that it would have to have come from an alternate reality where Kenya became Kenya before Kenya was Kenya, and on which Obama is said to have been born in a city that was actually part of Zanzibar at the time of his birth.

It's all pretty awesome and fun and now everyone's getting in on the "let's all forge up some birth certificates" craze. It's August 2009, and America is precisely where our founders envisioned we would be.
On Monday, David Shuster and Tamron Hall hosted celebrated "Birther Queen" Orly Taitz, who is a walking Saturday Night Live character, possibly played by Chris Kattan, come to life. The resulting discussion was, as you might imagine, pretty special! Taitz came on, speaking as if in a panic, presaging her answers with complaints about CNN, referring to David Shuster as a "brownshirt," and making oddball claims about how "85% of Americans think Barack Obama was not properly vetted."
Anyway, this is like Shuster and Hall attempting to interview an angry Fraggle. -

Per Max Blumenthal she was born in Moldova USSR, immigrated to another country of which she remains a citizen, before emigrating to the USA in 1987. As per Brother Max she is currently a dual citizen. Her U.S. citizenship compliments of two anchor children.

That was almost painful to watch! I can't believe anyone, even the rabid radical right-wing nut jobs, would attach themselves to her "cause" the way they have. You know she has to be pretty bad when even Ann Coulter is calling her a "CRANK" instead of patting her on the back for her Obama-bashing efforts.

What is she a doctor of??
Since her name is "Orly" obviously this means that she was born at an airport and is a French citizen and therefore eats raw frogs for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and is additionally a blood relative of Barack Obama, Osama bin Laden and the Creature from the Black Lagoon.-

The comparisons to Hitler's Brownshirts who used to disrupt Democratic meetings in Germany the late 1920's and early 1930's with intimidation, bullying (and finally violence) are inevitable since they appear so SUSPICIOUSLY like the techniques and goals of the belligerent organized Birthers that are paid or led to disrupt the National discourse in American Town Hall meetings.
Tricky but obvious move by the Republican think-tanks to cover the fact that besides having a TOTALLY KuKluxKlan sensibility, the Birthers also follow Nazi methodology.-

Careful Crespi.......KKK was an organization started by DEMOCRATS.......Truth is, not too many of us really care about this ...........as someone else posted, the damage is done. As for the town hall meetings, unlike those that Obama calls "town hall" where only Obama supporters are allowed in and questions are reviewed and handpicked, the Congressmen are not allowed such an easy road. The Congressmen set these meetings up, not the public. EVERYONE can attend...........so where were all the Obama health care supporters? Aren't there ANY out there that chose to attend a meeting and voice their opinion about how great this plan is?

Actually, they said Ann Coulter called her a "crank" not a "kook" and they didn't demand an answer to that until she demonstrated that she actually IS a crank (I can't believe I am agreeing with Ann Coulter on anything, but she hit this one on the head). She never responded to the real questions put before her (birth announcements in the Hawaiian paper, etc) and instead ranted on about his birth certificate and something about Obama not being a citizen even if he was born in Hawaii because his dad wasn't a citizen....since when do both parents (or even ONE parent) have to be a citizen for a natural born child in America to be an American citizen? She said both parents have to be citizens, and since his dad was a citizen of Kenya that means Obama's not a real citizen of America. Wow.......so all these anchor babies from Mexican parents being born in the US as citizens, even though neither parent is a citizen, aren't really citizens and aren't really anchor babies allowing their parents to stay since the child can't be deported since the child is actually a citizen??? Who knew..I guess everyone but this lady has it wrong. Being born in the US isn't really the criteria to be a "natural born citizen" of the United States. I'm sure all those who want the illegals to go back home will be happy to hear this. I wonder why the INS never figured that out? lol this is just nutty!

And no....its not news. It's a ridiculous distraction, just like the "Skip" Gates story was, to try and keep Obama from actually accomplishing anything while in the White House. Never mind what's best for the country. Never mind what's best for our society and citizenry. We need to give credence to conspiracy theorists because everyone loves a train wreck to watch. That's what's wrong with the "news" today.....but then it is a pretty fair reflection on our society, so who is really at fault? -

I almost feel sorry for Ms. Taitz in this clip. She has obviously had a bad day, is distraught, exhausted and maybe jet lagged (wild guess: she was in Tel Aviv for a family funeral or something). She handled the first question poorly, and it went downhill from there.
