Cap-and-trade dead now, too? »
Posted By pc25 5 months ago in Political NewsLast week, word leaked out of the Beltway that Card Check would get punted from the 2009 calendar because of the difficulties Democrats had encountered on health-care reform and energy policy. Now Politico reports that cap-and-trade will be off the agenda as well. The arm-twisting required for ObamaCare means that the White House will have no political capital for any other fights that could split the party:

"That means, for all practical purposes, it won’t get considered at all. No one will want to propose the kind of fee increases a cap-and-trade system means in an election year. By 2011, Republicans will have made gains in the House and Senate, thanks to a series of overreaches and failures from Obama and Congressional leadership, and Democrats won’t have the votes to move them. If they don’t get back on the 2009 agenda, they’re likely dead." -

Why Obamacare is faltering
The more people learn of the details of Obama’s plan, the less they like it.
One of the reasons Obama’s health care initiative is now badly floundering is that ever since his inauguration, he has failed to appreciate the difference between campaigning and governing. Oddly this is a man who still thinks that his capacity to captivate swooning crowds with his stirring rhetoric is sufficient — in and of itself — to persuade Americans to revamp 1/6 of the nation’s economy.
Yet, to govern is to choose, and to date, as evidenced by his willingness to outsource the crafting of the stimulus and cap and trade bills to his party’s congressional left wing, Obama has been missing in action in terms of exerting some control or establishing some boundaries over the sausage making process.
The results have been predictable. The stimulus has neither stemmed rising unemployment nor stimulated the economy, but rather, has set in motion a cascade of bad faith between President Obama and the American public
as what was constantly stated by the conservative during the election
LACK OF EXPERIENCE, LACK OF JUDGMENT, LACK OF LEADERSHIP
how can this man govern, he has never run anything other than his mouth. A community organizer with no practical experience runing nanything. His attempt to run Annenberg was a disaster. He has no idea how to lead. Chicago style, arm twisting, thug politics do not play out well on Capital Hill. The reason he doesn't realize this is that he spent all of 5 mintes in the Senate upon being elected. He immediately decided to run for the Presidency. Lofty ideals and platitudes do not survive in the reality of everyday life without the ability to bring them to fruition. The last six months of been nothing other than one long campaign stump and photo op for the 2012 election.-

Well it is one thing to talk a 'great game plan' but it is an entirely different matter to actually get in the trenches during the game, get dirty and roughed up by the big boys, and actually contribute in some visible manner to the success of your game plan.....

In DC if you aren't 'willing to put your face in' it and 'get dirty' then all bets are off that you or your plan will ever make it.

you have a point although I think that health care will carry on until the end of the year. I don't know if the Dems are going to push cap and trade in its current form during an election year. There already was a surprise upset victory for the GOP in the Deleware Special election and the reults of the Nov 6th 2009 elections that affect communities throughout the country on a local level are going to be looked at carefully.

You guys still don't get it do you. Democrats are controlling both sides of the health care issue. What part of the pile of money that interest groups are pouring into these issues is going to Republicans. Very little. It will be very difficult for Republicans to overcome both financial advantages and the power of incumbency in the GOP targeted districts. In the mean time Democrats are reclaiming vast amounts of money that these special interest groups scraped off during Bush/Cheney. I recommend you all go back to school.

Bon......Let me get this straight.....democrats are both for and against health care reform and are "in control" of it's stalling out. The democrats are taking money from health care lobbyists and will then try to gut private insurance, pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, and physicians. Now, since they intend to stiff their campaign contributers and the american people with a health care bill that the majority don't support, the GOP has no chance to get elected? I do need to go back to school, cause I just don't understand how that's all gonna work out.

You see, CONSTANTLY, the extremist billionaire sponsored right wing agenda being stooged by half wits, like the lemmings above. This definately is NOT an accident. These people are, all day long, every day, posting this billionaire sponsored drivel.
Its only about 10 hard core conbots, but they skew the arguement to far right, and are so willfully stupid, that like George Bush, they cannot be held responsible for what they do or say. It comes down to violence and thuggery.
10 terrorists can control thousands, just by the promise of violence. This is the message of the Teliban, and Goebbles Beck, and Oxy Pedophile, and Faux Noise. This is the message of the 15 percenters, and the GOP. -
