Republicans Propagating Falsehoods in Attacks on Health-Care Reform »
Posted By ameliog 4 months, 1 week ago in Political OpinionThe recent attacks by Republican leaders and their ideological fellow-travelers on the effort to reform the health-care system have been so misleading, so disingenuous, that they could only spring from a cynical effort to gain partisan political advantage. By poisoning the political well, they've given up any pretense of being the loyal opposition. They've become political terrorists, willing to say or do anything to prevent the country from reaching a consensus on one of its most serious domestic problems.

Not really. There are MANY more leeches in the system. It really is kind of amusing to see the "wingers" supporting the corruption of the former chairman of Eli Lilly (apart from the crimes against humanity Donald Rumsfeld comitted repeatedly ever since the 1970s).

The hidden truth behind drug company profits
This is the story of one of the great unspoken scandals of our times. Today, the people across the world who most need life-saving medicine are being prevented from producing it. Here's the latest example: factories across the poor world are desperate to start producing their own cheaper Tamiflu to protect their populations; but they are being sternly told not to. Why? So rich drug companies can protect their patents – and profits. There is an alternative to this sick system, but we are choosing to ignore it.
To understand this tale, we have to start with an apparent mystery. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has been correctly warning for months that if swine flu spreads to the poorest parts of the world, it could cull hundreds of thousands of people – or more. Yet they have also been telling the governments of the poor world not to go ahead and produce as much Tamiflu – the only drug we have to reduce the symptoms, and potentially save lives – as they possibly can.

Yet they have also been telling the governments of the poor world not to go ahead and produce as much Tamiflu – the only drug we have to reduce the symptoms, and potentially save lives – as they possibly can.
...What will be the end-result? James Love, director of Knowledge Economy International, which campaigns against the current patenting system, says: "Poor countries are not as prepared as they could have been. If there's a pandemic, the number of people who die will be much greater than it had to be. Much greater. It's horrible."
The argument in defence of this system offered by Big Pharma is simple, and sounds reasonable at first: we need to charge large sums for "our" drugs so we can develop more life-saving medicines. We want to develop as many treatments as we can, and we can only do that if we have revenue. A lot of the research we back doesn't result in a marketable drug, so it's an expensive process. -

How about the truth about the Tampa town hall meeting. Did they report that a fight broke out after they tried to close the doors? Did they report that when the people standing there for a long time to get in had the invited people put in around them by union and ACORN people? Did they mention when those people were seated and there were still empty seats that they closed the doors and that is when the fight broke out.
Reply
A by invitation only town hall meeting. And they tried to say that it was the Republicans trying to disrupt the meeting. Who is telling the lies. I heard this from a Democrat that tried to get in there. She had a friend that is higher up in the party that got in. Her voice was silenced. She is now a very angry Democrat. -

Ask your elected officials if Mexico isn't included in getting medical coverage with U.S tax payer money.
Reply
Currently all illegals would be covered. If a Mexican had an illness in Mexico, all they have to do is cross the border and they will be covered.
Now, you may understand one reason for the anger

This is such blatant bs. The article reads as if the Republicans started this and came looking for a fight or at least political opportunism. The action that has brought about the controversy is the oft-repeated, Obama-amplified LIE that our health care system is broken and requires reform.
Reply
"Reform" apparently includes the following:
1. Mandatory FEDERAL access to ALL bank accounts of covered members of the system.
2. Mandatory end-of-life counseling for the elderly.
3. The proposed system is SO GOOD that the first thing Congress did was exempt itself from it.
4. Federal control of health care provider wages.
5. Federal visits to homes where young children live to evaluate its home life. By THEIR standards.
Thrown in for good measure....
1. Insurance companies have been demonized despite giving in to all of Obama's demands.
2. Nancy Pelosi THAT LIAR says ALL opponents of this DNC power grab are "walking around with swastikas," and fellow Cali twit Dianne Feinstein apparently APPLAUDS BY HER SILENCE this trivialization of the holocaust.
3. The Messiah now wants Americans to spy on each other and report ALL dissent on his health care theft to His Messiahship by sending emails to him at FLAG@WHITEHOUSE.GOV.
4. And finally, in Bolshevik/Brown shirt fashion, because Dear Messiah's lies are going nowhere fast with ALL Americans, he has called on union goon misfits to disrupt citizens who are voicing their dissent to their elected representatives.
GO AHEAD, FILTH. PUSH THAT ENVELOPE. JUST BE READY TO REAP WHAT YOU SOW AND WHAT YOU ARE.
You sow and you are: violence, deception, arrogance, and greed. Heap those straws onto the camel's back. That's it...keep 'em coming. Fan the flames. Keep angling for the next "shot heard round the world."
The history that will be written will place ALL blame at YOUR feet. Tragically you won't be around to read it. Our children will.-

If you claim otherwise, please show us where this is

Total lie !
To substantiate their claims, conservatives point to SEC. 1233 of the House Tri Committee bill, a section titled “ADVANCE CARE PLANNING CONSULTATION.” But while the language allows Medicare to reimburse providers for consulting with patients about end-of-life issues, nothing in the section mandates a consultation. On page 429, the bill specifically states that seniors “may” consult with medical professionals — not government bureaucrats: -

Hahahahaha. That had got to be one of the funnist of all the lies I've seen. You don't understand, spying (warrentless) is what the Bush Administration did on Americans. Volunteering email addresses of emailers who send out or forward false information (lies) cannot be considered spying.
I think it's obvious that the Republicans are not going to particpate in any meanful debates so I think the democrats should exclude them and pass it. -

End-of-life counseling for the elderly: this is a good thing: a benefit! The elderly need more control of their treatment: this will allow them a pause to consider what they want, instead of being shuttled from one treatment to another, straight to the grave, at the time they most need some lucidity in their lives.
Reply
Home visits: this is a good thing: a benefit! My first child was born in England, where I was a student. As a first-time mother, my wife was allowed to stay in the maternity hospital 10 days, where she got help with child-care and such things as breastfeeding, and was able to bond with several other first-time mothers. Then, there were weekly home visits, during which we were able to ask any questions and get any instruction we needed on such things sanitation, diaper rashes, and circumcision.

It's sad to see so many people that live in this country, completly clue less on so many issues.
Reply
I had a few minutes to watch the news and was awestruck to listen to a young woman from Mississippi scream, "no govt. health care for her". She was unemployed, no insurance, single and had just had a baby paid for by the Govt.(medicaid). Then I was(completely dumbfounded) as an elderly man screamed, "No govt.ran health care!" He was on medicare and did not know it was a government ran program. Just amazing,, and we wonder why so many people in this country are taken advantage of and ripped off. We have to educate the people in this country.-

I heard someone talk about how medicaid paid for their rascal motorized go cart and in the same breath screamed "NO GOVERNMENT RAN HEALTH CARE!" It just goes to show you what kind of lies and tricks the right will use. It's the party of staying in power and they care nothing about the millions of us who don't have tons of money.

This article is complete and total propoganda BS. You libs have your issues so completely upside down, you don't remember which way is right and which way is left. You have been propogating the BS for so long, you cannot remember the truth. Keep on pushing and see where it gets you. You think that the mob is angry now? Just wait and see what happens if any part of this legislation passes. The Dems will have to call out the National Guard to put down the riots.

So you are so against this plan because it wasn't put forth during a republican's time in office that you would call for violence in the streets? You would create a civil war over an issue like making sure that health care is available to everyone? You truly are ridiculous.

What did they expect when they were trying to push through a bill without anyone reading it?
Reply
In their hurry, they opened up the doors to misinterpretation. Part of me thinks this is by design in order to keep people's attention away from the fact that the Federal Government is not even supposed to be trying to create a government run Health Insurance company.-

Now you've got your time, why are you still misinterpreting it?
Reply
The only reason I can think of is because you WANT to misinterpret it. And the longer you get, the more misinterpretations you will be able to squeeze out of it.
How about, now that there is time, you guys stop spreading bullsh!t about the bill and take the time to actually understand what it says before continuing to spread paranoid falsehoods?

FTA: "Health reform is a test of whether this country can function once again as a civil society"
This coming from a proponent of someone who wants to give the Federal Government a power it doesn't have.
The civil society he's referring to was created by the contract between the People and the Government. This bill breaches that contract unless an Amendment is passed.
This is a prime example of how the Statists wrap themselves in the flag while taking steps to destroy the foundation of the country it represents. -

My Fellow Americans: We know how difficult it is for Radicals, Liberals, Damocrats, and Braindeads, to read. They can't believe their loving President has even come up with the Wacky, Off the Wall, Socialistic, garbage that they consider a National Health Care Plan. Obviously, you need someone like us to tell you what is in it.

Face it Lunkheads, he's out to get you and you are too ignorant to realize it. He just don't want Republican, Conservative, Intellectuals, and just plain swell Americans to go down the tubes. Face it Fools, If we Lose, You lose. All that will be left of this Great Country is a bunch of Kenyans, and Mexicans running around stealing from each other.
We will have gone to Aussie Territory, The Virgin Islands, Iceland, or who knows, maybe China. Because we can afford it. Your fathers and mothers, your sisters and brothers, and your Children and Grand Children will be left to face the wrath of the races. Because you believe! The Real American-

Show me where in the Constitution that is says that it is the Government's job to provide health care to the Country.

It is not there.
It is up to the States to provide health care if they so choose to do so.
Not the Federal Government.

BOTH sides are publishing falsehoods about the two bills.
Reply
Most Dems don't realize that, far short of being a "universal health plan," this will leave millions of uninsured.
Most Dems don't realize that, far from leading to single-payor, unless Kucinich's amendment is part of the final bill, it will slam the door shut completely on single payor even at the state level.
It's because they've been lied to. And not by the tea-baggers, either. -

Their lies are frightening, like the fanatical " Reefer madness ". It is so crazy and nuts. But there are stupid people who believe this crazy crap. There is some indication that healthcare will pay for abortions, which I am not happy about. I don't support any goverment payment for abortion. Or illegal immigrants. But the hysteria about elderly and chronically ill being ethanized is so destructive. Get the facts before starting the riots.
