The Obama White House is applauding an encouraging jobs report as evidence the country has retreated from the brink of depression.
Presidential spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters Friday there remains plenty of work to do despite the latest government report showing that unemployment went down from 9.6 percent to 9.4 percent in July. The spokesman said the report "is more evidence that we have pulled back form the edge" of a depression.
At the same time, he said President Barack Obama still thinks the jobless rate will hit 10 percent later this year.

Give it a chance. You've got the mid term elections to voice your disapproval if Obama's policies don't work by then. But if the economy improves and America has universal healthcare, what are you far right wingnuts going to cry about? Oh, well, you mob of nay sayers can always manufacture some grievance.

I think this is just great news. Look at the down hill this country was going a year ago. I thought it would have taken alot more time to get this country started again. Good work Mr Obama. Now get this healthcare past.

This is encouraging to a point. The slowdown in job losses is definitely good, but that there are still job losses adding to the already enormous total is still disturbing.

America can't take much more of this strain. Unfortunately, until something drastically changes, we don't have a choice.

The health care reform issue could take a lot of pressure off of companies worried about hiring older employees whom have the job experience and education these companies seek and need to prosper. Yes, we circle back around to the current issue on the table.

Thank the Fed and the Treasury! Give credit where it is due.

Also, properly place blame on the gradual and progressive government fiddling (for 60 years) with mortgage/real estate markets for creating the bubble in the first place.

I can't wait until November 2010. The GOP will have been proven wrong and to be detrimental to the recovery through their constant barrage of lies and hired thugs. They will go down in flames that can be seen from space. I can't wait. What a glorious day when what the once glorious Republican party has become finally dies.

Well, I'm not ready ro kick up my heels and declare the recession/depression is on the mend.

Health care will be a major help, but we must have Americans producing something. Not just servicing things.

A service economy will continually be prone to the very problems that caused this crap. We have to consume to kep the economy growing. We will consume ourselves to death.

Build things, manufacture things, invest in the future, stop looking at the instant gratification crap. It just lands ya in a deep hole of debt with no way out.

Unemployment is hurting this nation more than anything else right now !!!! People who are out of work, still need to survive. Look at the numbers of families being forced to live as homeless.

Both parties need to take off their greed glasses and see people as being worthy of an opportunity to live a decent life as long as they are willing to work for it.

Does Obama really think people are that stupid?
10% unemployment is not an improvement over anything.
It is very bad and getting worse.
                Just like Obama's poles.
                Dropping like a rock.
                America is finally waking up.

My Fellow Americans: Those naive and gullible Damocrats will believe anything their President and his Media will tell them.

Ladies and Gentlemen it is not possible to lose almost 300,000 more jobs and have the unemployment figures drop. Well, I stand corrected it is possible because evidently a great number more people ran out of unemployment benefits. When a persons' benefits run out then he or she is no longer counted as one of the unemployed. They still are out of work but are not counted. Now, this can only mean one thing these individuals are now more desperate than ever before and probably headed for homelessness.

The Administration has become experts at lying to the American Public but only the Totally Insane can not see through their lies at this point.

It is Humiliating to Witness the President of the United States standing on a Podium in front of Millions of Out of Work American Tax Payers and Prefabricating such Untruths. Just standing there, with no shame, and making up erroneous facts that do not exist.

We know the facts, his naive followers do not, we know his lies from the actual truth, his followers want to believe him no matter what. So, who will actually suffer in the end if Obama succeeds?

Every single one of Us. Only we won't suffer any Heart Break at the realization that Obama and his Criminal Support Group betrayed the American People. Sleep Tight Liberals and when you hear your Children and Relatives Crying in the Night, Remember you and your naive fellow followers did it to them. The Real American

It's a proven fact, if you want coverage of your story, just add the word "OBAMA", and it WILL get coverage. It doesn't even has to be about Obama. Just his name SELLS. Where ever the name "Obama" is, money is being made. It doesn't matter rather you are Praising him, or Deriding him, you make money. "Your name will also be Blessed, and will be a Blessing to the masses", says the Lord.

When things get turned around you pundits are going to try to give credit to Every one except Obama, the mastermind of it all.
Look, Obama is running the show, it's his show. If it fails you are going to say, "it was Obama's fault". If it's successful, will you likewise give him the credit? It's only fair. Or is it that being fair is not in you?

Thank you, Mr, President and no Republicans. You prepared us for what was to come, and with honesty and sincerity. You also showed how wrong it is of the Republicans to be the obstructionist that they are - and for political reasons. However, many of us are not surprised by this show of ignorance. Many members within the GOP are still looking for that darn birth certificate. Hopefully, they'll find it when they find the weapons of mass destruction. Keep doing the great job that you're doing. The debate on health care will continue - as it ought. Lynch mobs should not deter your resolve to make this nation the great nation that it can be. Forward moving and forward thinking, God bless you!

It's just one month. Every prez since the dawn of reliable statistics has seized at one time or another on one month's data and tried to promote it as "success". If the trend continues, it could be defined as a turning point. But otherwise it could just be a fluke.
