Pennsylvania is a state chock full of elderly people who tend to vote Republican. When most of Pennsylvania elected Senator Specter, they did so because he is a Republican. These same elderly people have been hit with messages from the Republican party about how their doctors will be taken from them. They are told that "death panels" will push to have medications withheld from them in their final year of life. The smear campaigns are in full swing in Pennsylvania as they are in other states.

That said, Charles Krauthammer raised an interesting point in his column this morning. He suggested that we do need tort reform and insurance reform. Instead of doctors prescribing defensive medicine to protect them from lawsuits, the government could save billions annually by wiping out unnecessary procedures. The savings could be used to pay for some of the health coverage needed by poor Americans. It is not the best solution to the problem, but certainly one worth considering as part of a larger program.

Say what you will about Specter but that eighty year old guy fearlessly STOOD UP to those raging freaks.

He may have realized on which side of history he wants to be remembered...

I agree with Crespi. Specter stood up to the Republican mob in Pennsylvania and held his ground. I applaud his efforts.

Well, we have a town hall disrupter right here in this tread. Doesn't want to debate but just scream out lies and misinformation. And multiple times at that. lol.
