Yeah, ya know the bailouts of the banks weren't paid for by the taxpayers huh ???
Reply
Oh and all the undeserved bonuses that were paid from taxpayer money !!!! That was okay right, because they "earned" those bonuses by destroying the economy !!!!
You clowns sicken me !!!
Crawl into the hell you so rightly deserve with your self serving bullcrap !!!!
You bitch about giving some poor children some crumbs, from taxpayers.
You do not want healthcare for all if you have to pay one penny of it.
But you are willing to spend trillions of dollars to kill people half way around the globe, so you can feel secure !!!!!!
You are willing to allow shady business dealings to consume a lifetime of savings for the hard working people who trusted in the lies spread by your ilk.
(retch....) Is not even close to what you will be doing one day, when youy see what this has cost ya !!!!!
Ya wonder why people are so against the beliefs you seem to hold dear ???
I wonder how ya sleep at night knowing that so many suffer from the evil done in the name of profitability ???? -

Children. Children being helped. Defenseless children who have a hard time in life. I'm going to say this in all seriousness; you have a black soul, and compared to the plight of those kids, you're the one to be pitied. You'll never know what it means to connect with those different than you or your circumstances, and will never learn what they could teach you. What a waste of a lifetime.

Sheesh ... all you "Christian fundamentalist conservatives" with your Christian values and your pro-life preaching and your 'love' of God ....
Reply
You have NO idea what Christianity means. Jesus hung around with the poor and he helped them and he told his disciples to help them.
God forbid that you would want ANYONE who is poor to get ANYTHING they need if you "somehow" had to actually "pay" for it.
Unbelievably disgusting ..... and the height of hypocrisy.-

"Paterson's Republican critics blasted the giveaway, saying he should spend the money to reduce property taxes.
Reply
Ha, ha, ha. Leave it to critical Republicans who are more concerned about THEMSELVES than the people who really need the help. As if property taxes are going to buy school supplies for children of the poor. And if you say that property taxes help pay for the schools, then you are correct. But it is an unequal system that creates better schools for the rich and short changes the poor.-

Gov. Paterson and Mayor Bloomberg joined Soros to announce the payments at Public School 208 in Harlem, where the billionaire reminisced that as a penniless student in London, he survived because of a handout he got from Quakers.
"This gift has a special personal meaning to me, because I was once also a recipient of charity," Soros said in a choking voice. "I'm very pleased that I'm able to repay what they gave me."
Paterson's Republican critics blasted the giveaway, saying he should spend the money to reduce property taxes.
"It is a plan that is ripe for fraud and abuse," said Senate Republican leader Dean Skelos. "This is a totally irresponsible use of federal stimulus money.""
Ya know, I don't receive welfare. I've worked most of my life from the time I was 11 years old, I delivered papers and did what I could to earn money.
Sometimes people need help !!!! How small are you that you would deny people the chance to get their kids school supplies ???
Are you worried because you didn't get your $200.00 ??? Just be thankful you didn't need it !!! And if you did and didn't get it, well how sad does that make you ???
This is a picture of small narrow minded people who don't want to help anyone or think anyone deserves help except the wealthy.
Just ridiculous !!!!!!!!!!!
Grow up people, what are ya afraid of ??? That the people will use the money for other things ?? If they do will you answer for it or will they ????
We can only offer help, what the people do with it. They answer for !!!-

this comment is particularly GROSS, since Soros singlehandledly blew up the economy of Thailand when he shorted the baht. that collapse also took down the South Korean won, the Mexican peso and the Taiwan dollar. and it made him a ton of money in the process.
and now he gives $35M to the poor of NY?!?!
this is the same man that funds moveon.org and is a democratic poster boy for political organization .
this defies any accepted understanding of the word 'hypocrisy.'
afraid? narrow minded? LOL. at least i'm alert and aware. i can't say that for very much of the ignorant masses...

I've paid taxes for 38 years, much of it goes towards education. I live in one of the highest taxed school districts in Houston Texas. What do these people do with my money? Do they use my money to help children get out of poverty by teaching them skills to get them out of poverty? No, most of that money goes towards building giant football stadiums. Then they turn around and say oh BTW we need more money for the 'childre's' sake now. Pony up guys, we said it's for the 'children' best interest', as are all the football stadiums,,,,,, these stadiums feed their need for sports, what if they have to miss a few meals when sports is more important to their well being.

The amount of money absolutely WASTED on sports in the public sector (and private sector) -- especially with schools and cities building new stadiums and such for overpaid, spoiled idiots who should be happy making 50k/year doing what they love -- is horrific.

Refundable tax credit have been dong that for years now. A lot more than a 160 bucks per child.
Furthermore, the stimulus money will be put back into the local economy, like intended. It is up to each state as to how the want to spend that money isn't it?

You mean the money that GEORGE SOROS gave to POOR CHILDREN and their FAMILIES so that they could buy SCHOOL SUPPLIES?
Maybe if more people stepped up like George Soros, who had the money to give and who actually gave it to children and families who have a hard life, government wouldn't HAVE to step in. Like those greedy oil companies. Or big pharma. Or all those lovely people who drove the economy into the toilet only to get 100 million dollar bonuses?

Why do people call it free money? No such thing really is there? Its tax payers money that has been redirected to the poorer people. Dont get me wrong, I'm all for helping out the needy, but when so much money was put into bailing out the banks and paying obscene bonuses this just doesnt seem right. Wouldn't it have been better to spend the money on an infrastructure or green energy project that would create jobs for these 'poor' people?
