Bitter, hateful, and jealous cons, please name all the ways the trillions in tax cuts Bush doled out to the ultra wealthy benefited us.

Sheesh ... all you "Christian fundamentalist conservatives" with your Christian values and your pro-life preaching and your 'love' of God ....

You have NO idea what Christianity means. Jesus hung around with the poor and he helped them and he told his disciples to help them.

God forbid that you would want ANYONE who is poor to get ANYTHING they need if you "somehow" had to actually "pay" for it.

Unbelievably disgusting ..... and the height of hypocrisy.

"Paterson's Republican critics blasted the giveaway, saying he should spend the money to reduce property taxes.

Ha, ha, ha. Leave it to critical Republicans who are more concerned about THEMSELVES than the people who really need the help. As if property taxes are going to buy school supplies for children of the poor. And if you say that property taxes help pay for the schools, then you are correct. But it is an unequal system that creates better schools for the rich and short changes the poor.

    FTA:

"Storekeepers were glad to hear about the program, too - and the notebooks, clothes and backpacks it would buy.

"It's good for everyone," said Aziz Boughroum, 31, who works at Stevdan Pen & Stationers in the West Village.

Gov. Paterson and Mayor Bloomberg joined Soros to announce the payments at Public School 208 in Harlem, where the billionaire reminisced that as a penniless student in London, he survived because of a handout he got from Quakers.

"This gift has a special personal meaning to me, because I was once also a recipient of charity," Soros said in a choking voice. "I'm very pleased that I'm able to repay what they gave me."

Paterson's Republican critics blasted the giveaway, saying he should spend the money to reduce property taxes.

"It is a plan that is ripe for fraud and abuse," said Senate Republican leader Dean Skelos. "This is a totally irresponsible use of federal stimulus money.""

Ya know, I don't receive welfare. I've worked most of my life from the time I was 11 years old, I delivered papers and did what I could to earn money.

Sometimes people need help !!!! How small are you that you would deny people the chance to get their kids school supplies ???

Are you worried because you didn't get your $200.00 ??? Just be thankful you didn't need it !!! And if you did and didn't get it, well how sad does that make you ???

This is a picture of small narrow minded people who don't want to help anyone or think anyone deserves help except the wealthy.

    Just ridiculous !!!!!!!!!!!

Grow up people, what are ya afraid of ??? That the people will use the money for other things ?? If they do will you answer for it or will they ????

We can only offer help, what the people do with it. They answer for !!!

Your family needs are not Important to Obama and remember BJ Bill and hillary clinton, it takes a Village to raise Your family... They need Your Money for their Policies...

How Sad these people are running this Country...

Poor representation of equal...the two hundred dollars...as it is clear...these children are disparaged by the use of money to begin with. When will these people actually show they are thinking caring beings? When they divide 300 billion and give it to all the children? No! when they do something that prevents it from happening again!
I will never hurt any child, especially the one I myself remember living...but what are these adults doing? Historically speaking...nothing!

Billionaire philanthropist George Soros gave $35 million toward the program, with $140 million in federal stimulus funds routed through state government making up the rest.

"It's a help," said Tania Gomez of Chelsea, who withdrew $600 for her kids. "Every penny counts nowadays. It's really something that was unexpected."

Storekeepers were glad to hear about the program, too - and the notebooks, clothes and backpacks it would buy.

"It's good for everyone," said Aziz Boughroum, 31, who works at Stevdan Pen & Stationers in the West Village.

you will notice that this is where your taxes went:
"with $140 million in federal stimulus funds routed through state government making up the rest."

Are there other children in need?? or do they need Democrat votes here?

I've paid taxes for 38 years, much of it goes towards education. I live in one of the highest taxed school districts in Houston Texas. What do these people do with my money? Do they use my money to help children get out of poverty by teaching them skills to get them out of poverty? No, most of that money goes towards building giant football stadiums. Then they turn around and say oh BTW we need more money for the 'childre's' sake now. Pony up guys, we said it's for the 'children' best interest', as are all the football stadiums,,,,,, these stadiums feed their need for sports, what if they have to miss a few meals when sports is more important to their well being.

You know, George Soros could have given all that money himself without getting any kind of matching funds from the government.

Which leads us to one conclusion: The message is that the government is providing this money and we should all be thankful to the government.

      It's indoctrination. Statist indoctrination.

You mean the money that GEORGE SOROS gave to POOR CHILDREN and their FAMILIES so that they could buy SCHOOL SUPPLIES?

Maybe if more people stepped up like George Soros, who had the money to give and who actually gave it to children and families who have a hard life, government wouldn't HAVE to step in. Like those greedy oil companies. Or big pharma. Or all those lovely people who drove the economy into the toilet only to get 100 million dollar bonuses?

Step up and hold out a hand to help someone stand up instead of holding a cold block of ice in your hand representing your heart.

Obama is buying votes using the stimulus money that was supposed to create jobs and Soros is just sweetening the pot. Someone explain to me why these people deserved this money more than others in this country? There is no legitimate answer, I'm sure.

If it's Soros' big heart being applauded, I wouldn't waste the time. He'll make it back in a half-day with inside information on currency exchange somewhere in the world.

This is an investment in publicity to polish his image. He's a conniving SOB of the highest order. 35 mil is chump change in his world.

I applaud George Soros for his generousity. Using your resources to help those less fortunate than yourself is always a good thing.

Using someone else's resources to help those less fortunate...not so much.

All in all, though, there are worse things that have been done with the stimulus money.

Old Chinese proverb -- If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.

Bush robbed the treasury through the pentagon. We dumped money into crooked contractors pockets over in Iraq. At the same time they profited from killing innocent Iraqis and some of our soldiers.

Now, we talk about healthcare for everyone and the CONS are all upset. They have their panties in a wad about providing some tax money to make sure every sick child in American can be seen by a doctor. That upsets these "religious CONs.

They're so upset they'll go to a town hall meeting and spew out falsehoods.

Why do people call it free money? No such thing really is there? Its tax payers money that has been redirected to the poorer people. Dont get me wrong, I'm all for helping out the needy, but when so much money was put into bailing out the banks and paying obscene bonuses this just doesnt seem right. Wouldn't it have been better to spend the money on an infrastructure or green energy project that would create jobs for these 'poor' people?
