Exactly. They became great friends in the Thirties as fellow architecture students. Then Steinberg, who was a Romanian Jew, had to flee Italy as things got uglier there. Once Steinberg made landfall in the U.S., he and Buzzi corresponded (in Italian) for the next fifty years, as well as seeing each other from time to time. I translated most of Steinberg's letters to Aldo, which are fascinating, that book hasn't been published yet. Soon, I hope. Glad you liked the article!
