Fear for Obama's Safety Grows as Hate Groups Thrive on Racial Backlash »
Posted By Newperson 5 months, 4 weeks ago in Political NewsThe Secret Service is investigating a Maryland man who held a sign reading "Death to Obama" and "Death to Michelle and her two stupid kids" outside a town hall meeting this week. And in New Hampshire, another man stood across the street from a Presidential town hall with his gun on full display.Los Angeles police officers apprehended a man Thursday after a standoff with him inside a red Volkswagen Bug car in Westwood, CA – the latest disturbing case even though officials said the man had mental problems.
"It's certainly a scary time," said former FBI agent Brad Garrett, now an ABC News consultant. Garrett said the Secret Service "cannot afford to pass on anyone," and he believes "they really do fear that something could happen to [Obama]."

Experts who track hate groups across the U.S. are growing increasingly concerned over violent rhetoric targeted at President Obama, especially as the debate over health care intensifies and a pattern of threats emerges.

With the growth of hate groups, and more people stockpiling weapons and ammo, we can only hope some crazed person(s) doesn't do what Squeaky Fromm or others have tried to do.
The policies Obama's proposing could just have easily been put on the table by a white man or woman, and I don't think there would be the same kind of rage we're seeing right now.
It's simply the color of his skin that has so many riled up. They're afraid, pure and simple.
And that's a shame... -

It's becoming apparent that some angry white males who were in the majority are not happy becoming a minority. They think their rights are being taken away and given to others. Not because it's true but because the instigators know which buttons to push to elicit fear and anger. And an angry, fearful mob will eventually erupt into violent behavior unless checked.

How can any President be safe? Look what happened in JFK's assassination where the security team was yanked from the back of the car giving the gunmen unobstructed firing.

Hate is a very powerful tool being used by what is left of the republican party. They know they are beat and backed into a corner and like any wild beast are lashing out at anything or anyone. I hope that someone anyone that has any sway over these hate mongers will do something, say something to dial back the hate. For the good of the country. Please.

Please listen to yourselves! You can't blame this sort of behavior by an individual on a political party for Pete's sake! You sound exactly like the kind of crazies that would even think of taking a life. People who kill or attempt to kill are clearly not of sound mind - whether that kind of crazy comes from hate or simply mental deficiencies. If what you are saying is true, then how do you classify the Dems that call people who dare to question anything they say as "un-American" or "racist"? Did you ever think that perhaps YOUR remarks can describe YOU to be exactly like the people you are blaming? Regardless of your political preference, wishing bad things to happen to the president; or anyone else for that matter, means that something is truly wrong with that person and has nothing to do anyone else - it's that person's head that needs to be examined!

Inciting racism and hate for political ends has become the preferred tool by many extremists. The consequences are frightening - to say the least. I see it here on propeller and it is turning me off.

I hope that people will learn to see through this kind of manipulation. Of course, the biggest suckers for this kind of incitement consist of racists and wackos who are predisposed to this kind of exploitation. -

Real Americans hate it when any president is threatened! Even those they don’t like. After all they are your presidents even if you voted against them.
Reply
Does everyone in this thread feel that way? Do all of you actually feel this way about ALLLLLL presidents?
Things that we should never forget:
Let's not forget Reagan was actually shot.
Or this:
When Bush visited Portland, Ore., for a fundraiser, protesters stalked his motorcade, assailed his limousine and stoned a car containing his advisers. Chanting "Bush is a terrorist!", the demonstrators bullied passers-by, including gay softball players and a wheelchair-bound grandfather with multiple sclerosis.
One protester even brandished a sign that seemed to advocate Bush's assassination. The man held a large photo of Bush that had been doctored to show a gun barrel pressed against his temple.
"BUSH: WANTED, DEAD OR ALIVE," read the placard, which had an X over the word "ALIVE."
Another poster showed Bush's face with the words: "F--- YOU, MOTHERF---ER!"
A third sign urged motorists to "HONK IF YOU HATE BUSH." A fourth declared: "CHRISTIAN FASCISM," with a swastika in place of the letter S in each word.
To truly be honest about these sorts of disgusting things/acts, one must be willing to disavow them when it happens to every president and it only holds real validity when one does so when it’s a president they didn’t vote for or even despises.
Any other reaction contrary to that means they are not truly degusted by these things. They are only disgusted when the other side does these sorts of vile things.-

"Americans should want every president to be safe, if they don't like how they are running the country they should use the ballot box not threats/or real violence to get rid of him."
Are Republicans Americans? Why aren't Republican "leaders" speaking out against this sort of rhetoric? Some of the apparent party "leaders" actually incite it. Palin and Limbaugh come to mind. If the "leaders" don't condemn it they become complicit by omission. -

They (under standing Bush laws) can be "interrogated," their families can be incarcerated and "interrogated," until they give up a name, then THEY can be incarcerated and "interrogated" until EVERY CONSPIRATOR OR SOURCE OF THE "DIRECTIVE" can be traced down and DEALT with.
Entire Fundamentalist Churches that preached violence against Obama can be permanantly shut down and torn down, media pundits who fomented the violence CAN (especially under Bush law) be held accountable and receive LONG "detaining" periods, possibly the rest of their lives.
The public will also rise up and probably STRING UP every damn hate-mongering CON in their town or city they can find, the way Mussolini ended up.
It won't be like Kennedy, shadowy figures who had worked on plans for that sort of thing since Roosevelt. THIS time EVERYONE WILL KNOW WHO IS BEHIND THE MURDER. Cons and their propaganda arms.
Obama is the man keeping us mellow about all this hate. Take HIM out and there will certainly be a reckoning, and it really won't matter if the creeps have basements full of guns. The LAW and the AMERICAN PEOPLE will take THEM right out.
The ultra-CONservatives really should be praying to GOD that NOTHING happens to America's President that they IN ANY WAY had a part of because there WILL be HELL to pay, this time. -

"I'm tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with Administration, somehow you're not patriotic. And we should stand up and say, WE ARE AMERICA, that WE HAVE A RIGHT TO DEBATE AND DISAGREE WITH ANY ADMINISTRATION." direct quote from Hiliary Clinton, now your Sec. of State.
We will NOT be silent. WE WILL SPEAK UP FOR THAT WHICH WE FIND CORRUPT AND DESPICABLE. In HR 3200, THERE IS AN EXCLUSION FOR THOSE WITH PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS. THEY ARE LYING THROUGH THEIR TEETH, WHEN THEY TELL THERE IS NOT.
paragraph 2 of Section 2702,The Public Health Service Act:
What paragraph two says in part A is that policy writers for the government will be allowed to make the insurance you buy cover certain ailments, and not cover others (one of which may be a condition you happen to have, which is pre-existing).
What paragraph two says in part B is that policy writers for the government will be allowed to limit the amount, level, extent, or nature of the treatment you get for certain ailments (one of which may be your pre-existing condition).
So who will be writing your insurance policy? According to the President's plan, a new bureaucracy known as the "Health Benefits Advisory Committee." It will be made up of 27 people, and guess how many have to be a treating doctor: One.
So if you believe President Obama's quote to the AMA means that if you sign up for government insurance your pre-existing condition will automatically be covered, - you're wrong, and so is the President. You'd better read the fine print on whether the gang of 26 bureaucrats-

This is a typical misinterpretation. Every health insurance specifies what is covered and what is not. This is not an exclusion based of preexisting conditions; it usually applies to everybody who is in the plan. Lately I've heard a lot of noise about abortions. Should abortions be covered by the public plan? How about penis enlargements? Wart removals? Of course, you may have one of the conditions that are not covered by the public plan, but that is not the same as being excluded from the plan altogether for some preexisting condition, so there is no lie, except on the part of those who deliberately misinterpret that section. -

What a crock of manure. So now every mentally ill person that acts out can be atributed to the Republican Party or a Republican Militia? You guys are a bit dim in the attic yourselves. Can't remember back to 1998? The Dems had a sign that read "Bush: Wanted Dead or Alive" with the alive x'd out, or "Honk if you hate Bush", or the group of thugs who surrounded Frank Dulcich, CEO of Pacific Seafood Groups, (some in black masks) menacing him, the absolutely vile curse words shouted, signs that said "Bush Is A Terrorist!" "Honk If You Hate Bush"? You all have short memories. We are protesting the takeover of America by this President and it's ruination through a quadrupled Deficit. It has nothing to do with race! Why are you so eager to trust the government with rationed healthcare when they can't even take care of Medicare or Social Security? Why do you want a BIGGER government? It is turning into Socialism. And we can't afford this health care Bill. This is why people are passionately defending our Constitution and Freedoms. The people are only protesting not commiting murder or bullying anyone. You need to look at yourselves for that!!

How true. The left is playing the race card in a cowardly manner now that they are getting pushback from the public on health care "reform", cap and tax and other boondoggles.
Since we're on the topic of racial assualts, how about this one:
"Kenneth Gladney, a 38-year-old conservative activist from St. Louis, said he was attacked by some of those arrested as he handed out yellow flags with “Don’t tread on me” printed on them. He spoke to the Post-Dispatch from the emergency room of the St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, where he said he was waiting to be treated for injuries to his knee, back, elbow, shoulder and face that he suffered in the attack. Gladney, who is black, said one of his attackers, also a black man, used a racial slur against him before the attack started.
“It just seems there’s no freedom of speech without being attacked,” he said." -

I have become very depressed about the USA and all the crap that is coming to the surface about healthcare. I come from a generation in the UK who studied in school in the 40s American History and Literature, loved Jazz and the films made by Hollywood in WW2. Now it appears to me that the US is so deeply divided that there is no hope for you. No Empire in history has prevailed including the British Empire and quite right too: you will go the same way if you do not control your extremists. Think on this stat I wrote today: Home Office Stats for 07/08 show murders by guns falling from 53 to 38. Now wouldn't that be wonderful in the US? See you later Alligator.

Yes this will pass like all things do. But some scars dont heal very well.
I hope no one herts our president or his family.

I can't speak for my country or the world, only for myself. I think your civil war was a great waste of lives and a lot of unnecessary suffering. The country would probably better off as two or more separate countries because the war is still continuing at a different level. The US is as divided as ever.
Reply
American democracy is a joke. Watching almost two years of electioneering in the presidential campaign where the person who can raise the most money is the one likely to win is a bit boring but not too bad entertainment. It's good for quite a few laughs.
Is the US racist? It sure is, and probably the ones who protest this label the most are the most racist of them all. I am white, and I have traveled all across the US. I was struck and even bothered sometimes by the deference with which some black people in the South have treated me. No, it was not simple politeness, I can tell the difference. The Southern whites were polite and Canadian blacks are polite with no deference in their manners.
I have also traveled in many other countries around the world and I can safely say that I've never seen a society as greedy as the American. Tax cuts seem to be the two magic words that seem to hypnotize a lot of people into utter blindness to the suffering of others. Also, I've seen a lot of posts on Propeller from people who have their own good health care through employers or even from the government fight, often with lies, against providing health care for those who don't have it. What they seem to be saying is: "I've got mine, and to the hell with everyone else."
The one thing that I find the most disturbing is American imperialism. Does the US really need several hundred military bases around the world to secure its own safety? No, they are there to protect "American interests." What are American interests? Well, everything the US wants. -

Garrett said statements like one recently made by controversial radio host Rush Limbaugh comparing a logo for the White House plan to a Nazi symbol "legitimizes people who are on the edge to go do something or say something."

So let me get this straight.
1. More and more Americans are joining Nazi-like hate groups.
2. They are inspired by the accusation that the Obama health care plan has Nazi characteristics.
3. So...being OPPOSED to the allegedly Nazi-like health care plan, all these Americans go sign up with Nazi-like hate groups?
Ok, I have to ask. Is it considered impolite to accuse liberals of being too damn stupid to see the fatal contradiction inherent in this MSM screed? Or ought one simply join with ABC News and assume they are?
But let's not digress too much. After all, we have to keep in mind the liberal attention span: about the time it takes to read a headline. MSM filth know that their pied piper minions can--no, must--be fed with snippets. NEVER allow the headline to reflect facts that must at times be included in the article. Which explains why not one single illiterate hate-America, pro-Obama will mention this sentence from the article, tucked safely away from the liberal attention span on page 2 (oh yeah...requires one great big mouse click, too):

I'm sorry. I fail to see what is Nazi-like in any part of Obama's health care reform plans.
We liberals and democrats are not the ones who ordered torture. We did not order massive electronic spying on US citizens. We did not order rendition of the prisoners of war. We did not set up hidden prison camps in foreign countries. We did not order prisoners held indefinitely without formal charges or court proceedings. We did not politicize the DOJ and the Supreme Court. We did not abandon the black victims of Hurrican Katrina. We did not blanket the country in a fog of fear by raising the color alert status and never once lowering it to green. We did not suppress opposing points of view by incessantly shouting Traitor or Coward.
Do you see any Nazi-like tendencies in any of these activities by Bush and the Republicans?
