Radical splinter groups such as Jund Ansar Allah call for a global jihad against the entire Western world while Hamas maintains its struggle is only against Israeli occupation.
Not a view we hear from our diplomats very often. The Jerusalem Post has a more unbiased view than the U.S.? Weird world.-

Well, everytime Israel has compunded its crimes against humnaity in Palestine, the opposition and resistance has become more adamant and fundamentalist. The same thing that happens everywhere.

Israel continued ethnic cleansing and theft when Fatah tried to make peace and continues it now when Hamas has made peace offers. Next they will be facing much more extreme groups like Al Qaida.
The irony in the whole matter is that the zionist have robbed, killed, expelled or put in concentraton camps millions more people than any of the so-called "moslem terror groups"

Saeb Erekat, a senior peace negotiator with Israel and a member of the rival Fatah group in the West Bank, described the situation in Gaza as "alarming."
"Gaza is going down the drain in chaos and lawlessness," he told the AP.
I recently read that Abbas was trying to join in talks with Hamas - but old Saeb Erekat, a man I used to respect - is
way too willing to press for Party dominance. I think many
would characterize Fatah's legacy as corruption and stagnation
of the process. A little too much bowing to the demands of
Condi Rice in rejecting the formation of a Unity government
with Hamas. Doing the bidding of he West got them....where? -

and Israel stopped the bombardment. This story won't make cable news - in fact it
hasn't. I found a smaller version on Prop this morning and went looking online for
more details. Haaretz gets bashed all the time for supposedly being a left-leaning
publication - but I have never seen that said about the Jerusalem Post. -

> ...wouldn't this be a perfect way for Hamas to put the spotlight on the situation in Gaza, rather than them as a terrorist group?

Hardly. "This" does not relieve Hamas from being a terrorist group but proves that Hamas is NOTHING BUT a terrorist group as it is unable to control the situation in the city where it (Hamas) was elected and continues to be supported by the vast majority of local population. In other words, "this" proves that Hamas is a terrorist group and not a functioning government.
