NY Welfare Families Get Stimulus Cash for School Supplies
from Gov. Paterson and Soros by depositing into their electronic debit accounts $200 per child bt 3-17 for back-to-school supplies. (children who have dropped out of school still were counted among those eligible somehow???).

This poorly administered program that threw $140 million of unaccounted tax payer provided stimulus cash at welfare recipients instead went to beer, cigarettes and flat screen tv's!!

And these clowns want to seize control of one seventh of the economy by taking over health care/Ins industry now.

bring back TERM LIMITS!!!!!

When one doesn't take the time and effort to earn their money the hard way, by WORKING, then why place any value on that money and time spent on earning it? It's free money. Go party!

    Idiots...

Gotta drop this. Ya see, saying "NY Welfare Families Get $140M in Stimulus Cash for School Supplies, but spend on beer and cigarettes!" sends the distinct message that every 'welfare family' that received money ran out and did this. Now that's not nice. Matter of fact it's ugly, & I'm fed up with the ugliness displayed by some Americans. So, there ya go.

I have just watched the Fox News video on which this is based.
Outrageous claims are made in it on the skimpiest of evidence.
Did anyone do a reliable study of what percent of this money
was spent on beer and cigarettes? No, the report is based on
rumors of people "lining up" to do so. Suppose that only 10%
of the money was spent that way (I have no idea what it really
was, but just bear with me for the sake of argument). That
means $14 million for beer and cigarettes and $126 million for
school supplies. According to the Fox report, the money is
$200 per family. That means that the number of families
that are misspending the money is 70,000. (Seems a lot to me,
but I am just following the mathematics based on the Fox report.) Now if 70,000 families suddenly go out to buy beer
and cigarettes, that may indeed be noticed.

So where is the slightest bit of evidence that the money is
not being spent as intended by 90% of the recipients?

And why are conservative friends demanding that the government
(which they claim is the rule of all evil and mismanagement)
should jump into this to prevent this possible 10% of wastage?
Would not the cost of that control be greater than any money
that is likely to be saved by by putting it in place?

The uS could not disparage us if they managed correctly.
Disparage-1 : to lower in rank or reputation : degrade
2 : to depreciate by indirect means (as invidious comparison) : speak slightingly about

As it is obvious to us, and should be to them too!

What a load of horseshit reported by a hack with an Aussie accent & posted by an AG sockpuppet.
BTW - notice he said a run on cigarettes & beer was reported by an upstate gas station - upstate NY welfare in most cases = white welfare - sorry to disappoint you rascists

Goppy how much money should the government take from a dead person after they usurped a kings ransom while they were killing themselves to accumulate it.Why should you,and those like you have any right to it.We have struggled in this country to make sure we don't slip back from whence we came. That why I am so disappointed that the voters didn,t listen to Obama close enough. He made no bones about it when he said he was going to bring change, now we see what change means.
