Meet the Press - Sunday: Instead of denouncing threats of violence against our elected government, Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) claims the government "earned" these violent threats.. Considering the 168 Americans who died in the Oklahoma bombing by Timothy McVay, this is certainly a disturbing opinion to share on national TV.

After 8 years of a Republican administration and 6 years of a Republican Congress, the American people voted them out of office and elected both a Democratic President and a Democratic Congress. Despite Coburn’s claims that the threats of violence have been “earned” by angry citizens who feel they have lost control of their government, the fact is they have indeed lost representation; that is what they earned. The voters had enough of their failed policies.

There is no justification for inciting violence. Obama haters and sour grapes are poor excuses for violence. The blood of innocent Americans will be on the hands of these leaders that continue to fan the flames of extremism.

The only people who have actually gotten violent are the pro-Obamacare people.

Maybe I missed it, but has anyone denounced the ACTUAL violence on the pro-Obama side?

Virtually all the threats, Gun displays and disruption come from the Republican side. Other threats--Not proven.

Time and again, Republican elected representatives have been given the opportunity to denounce the alarming violent tone political debate has recently taken.

And each time, they have avoided condemning violent rhetoric.

We can all argue 'til we're blue in the face about whether there are valid reasons for Americans to be upset at our elected representatives, but it is indisputable that condoning violent discontent is dangerous.

When will Republican officials stop playing to fear, anger and bloodlust?

    Spadecaller,

I couldn't get your link to the video to come up. But that's all right, I saw and heard Sen. Coburn's remarks on Meet the Press as well as several times on local TV.

For you to imply that Sen. Coburn is advocating violence is pure partisan ********, but it is what most of us have come to expect from you.

Understanding why the American people are angry and feeling that the anger is deserved is a far cry from inciting violence and shows at least one politician in DC is in touch with the common voter.

By the way, get a clue, the American people are angry at the way our government is operating, that includes you liberal types, too.

      From<Meet the Press:

MR. GREGORY said: "All right. But let’s talk about the tone of the debate. There have been death threats against members of Congress, there are Nazi references to members of Congress and to the president. Here are some of the images. The president being called a Nazi, his reform effort being called Nazi-like, referring to Nazi Germany, members of Congress being called the same. And then there was this image this week outside of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, a town hall event that the president had, this man with a gun strapped to his leg held that sign, 'It is time to water the tree of liberty.' It was a reference to that famous Thomas Jefferson quote, 'The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.' That has become a motto for violence against the government. Timothy McVeigh, the Oklahoma City bomber, had that very quote on his shirt the day of the bombing of the Murrah building when 168 people were killed."

American who support those that justify this kind of violent rhetoric are opening the door to more domestic terrorism.
