As an atheist I am not accountable for Huxely's reasoning for his atheism anymore than you as a Christian are accountable for the words of folks like Jim Jones or David Koresh.

While your strawman presentation of why atheists are atheists may indeed fit some, it certainly doesn't fit all. I am not an atheist in a vain attempt to escape punishment, I am an atheist for the same reasons YOU probably don't believe in Ganesh, Zeus, or Thor, a lack of compelling evidence.
