Palin's Red Menace »
Posted By Beau7890 3 months, 1 week ago in Political OpinionTry this on for size: Palinism. What is it? It is an updated version of McCarthyism, which takes its name from the late Sen. Joseph McCarthy, the Wisconsin liar, demagogue and drunk, and means, according to Wikipedia, "reckless, unsubstantiated accusations, as well as demagogic attacks on the character or patriotism of political adversaries." As far as we know, Sarah Palin is not a drunk.

Palin, as wholesome as McCarthy was not, is ready-made for television. Still, she has gone from a 57 percent favorable rating soon after McCain picked her as his running mate to a current 39 percent -- a negative landslide of justifiable proportions. Before she fades into fringedom, she will do one bad and one good thing -- hurt the very people she supposedly champions and expose the appalling opportunism of the Republican leaders.-

I see Sarah Palin as a sort of 'unwitting' Neo-Conservative.

As I've mentioned on occasion ... the Neo-Conservative Ideology has it's roots in the Political Philosophy of one Leo Strauss ... (link to an understanding of Leo Strauss)
http://www.alternet.org/story/15935/
One of the essential ingredients of rule ... according to Neo-Cons is to 'Rule Through Fear'. ... ... ... ... (Joe McCarthy was 'ahead of his time' ... ... but of course, this 'Rule Through Fear' ... is used by thugs and totalitarians around the world - - - Leo Strauss just sort of codified it for Modern Republicans.)
This is accomplished by AMPLIFYING Fear ... Creating an EVIL Entity ... an Evil entity that only Neo-Cons can protect us from.
That's why Ronald Reagan used the term "Evil Empire" to describe the old Soviet Union.
That's why George W. Bush used the term "Axis of Evil" to describe N. Korea, Iran, Iraq.
When you create an evil ... you unite people behind you.
See?
Now ... back to Sarah ... the reason I believe she's an UNWITTING Neo-Con is this ... I don't believe she has ANY idea as to the philosophical underpinnings that make Modern Republicanism work.
I believe she's no different than any average "Tea Bagger" ... or "Town Hall Screamer".
I mean ... she didn't even know what the "Bush Doctrine" was ...
... ... ... oh ... ... ... wait ... ... ... that was due to the "evil Mainstream Media.
Get it?
