Leon E. Panetta, the director of the Central Intelligence Agency, canceled a program to locate and kill the leaders of Al Qaeda.

Executives from Blackwater, which has generated controversy because of its aggressive tactics in Iraq, helped the spy agency with planning, training and surveillance. The C.I.A. spent several million dollars on the program, which did not successfully capture or kill any terrorist suspects.

I have a problem with our government hiring private hit-men to assassinate people for profit. Don't we have special forces, sworn to defend our nation and constitution, to perform this service?

This is somewhat like when we hired the mob to do a hit on Castro. It has been very embarassing for us and very empowering for Castro. -
