What we've been witnessing during this health care reform process can easily be defined as "bipartisanship porn," a display of bipartisanship so obscene and excessive that it borders on perverse.

Actually I was floored by Gibbs' remarks - plus he seemed
a bit testy about having to restate their(WH) commitment to
    bi-partisanship.
I was floored by Obama's remark about Grassley being dedicated
to working on health care reform - after Grassley's performances last week? Kind of a stinging article but maybe necessary. I think today was a bit depressing.
"Gr*sshole"! -cracked me up!I thought it was funny.......and I needed the laugh!
    Thanks, Progressive.

      A question to anyone -
      FTA:
Reconciliation is a way around, but, by some accounts, reconciliation would blow giant holes in the bill, perhaps taking the public option with it.

Question: Why? reconciliation means going with the 51 vote
majority to pass - instead of 60 - or the recently discussed 75 to 80, correct? Why would that blow holes in the bill, perhaps taking the public option with it? HOW would that happen
even if it passed by a SMALLER majority - it passed. No?
What is it that I am not seeing here? Help me out.

Why would Obama be hell-bent on passing a "reform" bill that republicans like?

      Common agenda?

If you buy the democrat meme, that is that the Dems are the party of the working class and the Republicans are the pro-business elitists, then Obama should be looking for a bill that would work for working people and whould cause republicans everywhere to projectile-vomit.

But that's obviously not the case. Obama and Baucus have been cuddling with the "health" industry execs from the git, and working hard to pass reform that is little more than a sop to the insurance companies and big pharma.

That's the essence of bipartisanship. It happens when the two parties have a common agenda, and in matters benefiting the corporations, they virtually always do have a common agenda.

War for oil? Tax dollar giveaways to health insurers? Bipartisan endeavors, you bet!
