Ensign says affair was mistake, but not 'legally wrong' »
Posted By Progressive 4 months ago in Political NewsJohn Ensign says that his affair with a friend's wife was different than former President Bill Clinton's relationship with a White House intern because he didn't lie under oath. "I haven't done anything legally wrong," the Nevada GOP senator said.
"Isn't that a little like saying, 'It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is?'" scoffed one ethics expert. In his first home-state appearance yesterday since admitting an extramarital affair with former campaign aide Cynthia Hampton, Ensign told the AP he can understand how some people might "have a problem" with the fact he called for Clinton's resignation but won't resign himself.

So...Ensign's argument is that he did nothing "legally wrong," but he rationalizes calling for Clinton to resign by saying this:

"I was basically a jurist at that point. I thought there was a violation of a felony."
He thought there was a "violation of a felony" in Clinton's case, but sees none in his own. I wonder what felony he's talking about?-

I believe he's alluding to Clinton's lying under oath about his dalliance with an intern.
Of course, this begs the question of the legality of the cash "gifts" made by Ensign and his family to the woman (and her family) with whom he committed adultery...
