Leave the Guns at Home: When Protest Becomes Intimidation »
Posted By bruhaha 4 months ago in Political OpinionTry a thought experiment: What would conservatives have said if a group of loud, scruffy leftists had brought guns to the public events of Ronald Reagan or George W. Bush?
How would our friends on the right have reacted to someone at a Reagan or a Bush speech carrying a sign that read: "It is time to water the tree of liberty"? That would be a reference to Thomas Jefferson's declaration that the tree "must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."
Pardon me, but I don't think conservatives would have spoken out in defense of the right of every American Marxist to bear arms or to shed the blood of tyrants.
In fact, the Bush folks didn't like any dissent at all. Recall the 2004 incident in which a distraught mother whose son was killed in Iraq was arrested for protesting at a rally in New Jersey for first lady Laura Bush. The detained woman wasn't even armed. Maybe if she had been carrying, the gun lobby would have defended her.

FTA - "On the contrary, violence and the threat of violence have always been used by those who wanted to bypass democratic procedures and the rule of law. Lynching was the act of those who refused to let the legal system do its work. Guns were used on election days in the Deep South during and after Reconstruction to intimidate black voters and take control of state governments."

It seems almost impossible to separate the Republican Party from the Christian conservatives or the Christian conservatives from these gun-toting, un-Democratic, redneck, racists! What to do...what to do.-

There is the absolute misunderstanding about what is going on. Blaming things on Christians that are totally opposed to what Christians stand for. Why do the liberals always put the words Christian and conservative together. One is a religion and the other is a political philosophy. Christians can be liberal or conservative but atheistic liberals seem to have to make it seem that all Christians are conservatives and evil.

The assertion that it is impossible to separate the Republicans from Christian conservatives and from gun-toting, un-Democratic, redneck, racists is very hateful and ignorant. This is the typical ad hominem attack that liberals love to make. Tying conservatives to things hated is very hateful.
The people with guns are making a point to Obama and his tendency to want to make more rules about gun ownership. But liberals have to put on their blinders of those issues and rant about things that were not even considered by these people.
Keep in mind that the guns to keep blacks from voting in the deep south were done by died in the wool Democrats not Republicans. The lynchings in the south were again done by Democrats. Out in the west there were times when that was done because there was very little law there.

We need to make these wing nuts very visible to the population at large. We also need to constantly remind people that the GOP would not allow this behavior at any of their assemblies. Bush was famous for having hand picked audiences. We might want to also remind the conservatives that the liberals do allow free speech unlike the right wing of this country.

I'm a conservative when it comes to the Word of God. I believe in the inerrancy of the Bible.
Nowhere in the New Testament do I find where we are use violence or intimidation to prove our Christian beliefs.
In fact, Christianity does not exist without our Love of our fellow men.
For one can preach at people all day long without love and be spouting empty words of nothingness at those who we are trying to show the way to.
For without the love Christianity does not exist.
On the other side, Love without the Word of God is just allowing people to die, because we did not want to offend people.
So I'm conservative in that I believe that God is God and without Him, including The Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ, we are vessels empty of the life He wants for us.
But I'm liberal in my love of Jesus Christ and want to share the Joy of His Salvation for all men who accept it.
I don't need a gun for that, I have the two edged sword of The Lord, His word.
So I really find it "funny-sad" that the so called "Christians"
feel they must show their beliefs by force, when the One they are supposed to emulate did not.
They seek to take by violence that which is not theirs to take, nor is it theirs to dispense. For none of them create life, nor do they decide who will receive life everlasting.
They want this world for their kingdom, but God has already paid for it with the Blood of His Son.
Satan's time is short, he will use all the tricks and lies he can, including the loudness of the false ones claiming Jesus Christ, while denying Him by their very works and actions.
Check the fruit. Is there a good fruit blossoming, or is their fruit spoiled and rotten ?? For by their fruit one should know them.-

Interesting that a faith that espouses love as it's primary motivator has such a long and bloody history.
"I don't need a gun for that, I have the two edged sword of The Lord, His word."
I'm a Jew. I know my history and how my people have "enjoyed" the "love" of Christians throughout history. I need a gun.
"So I really find it "funny-sad" that the so called "Christians" feel they must show their beliefs by force, when the One they are supposed to emulate did not."
I would have thought that a true Christian would try to understand why his fellow Christians felt that way rather than just "feel sad" about it and judge them. If I'm right, then someone isn't a true Christian. If I'm wrong, then I apologize.

This story flies in the face of an Obamacare rally out in Arizona. One individual was carrying a semi-automatic rifle, but let's focus on what MSNBC's Contessa Brewer had to say:
Reply
"A man at a pro-health care reform rally just outside wore a semiautomatic assault rifle on his shoulder and a pistol on his hip. The Associated Press about a dozen people in all at that event were visible carrying firearms.
The reason we're talking about this--a lot of talk here Dylan--because people feel like yes, there are Second Amendment rights, for sure, but also there are questions about whether this has racial overtones. You have a man of color in the Presidency and white people showing up with guns strapped to their waists."
Turns out, the racist white person that had the Carbon-15 carbine on a sling over his shoulder and a gun on his hip that Brewer was talking around in order to keep her talking point intact, WAS BLACK! Note that in the beginning of the video, MSNBC went to great pains to edit out Chris's head (and race) so that they could provide a race-baiting narrative.
Journalists and Liberals; people in a constant vegetative state. -

There are some in US who think those Americans who don't talk about their guns or take their guns to the presidential public events and don't use macho language and ..are bunch of sissies who can be pushed over, intimidated and silenced by show of guns in public by bunch of nuts and ...some of these wing nuts believe that if push comes to shove they are ready to use their guns to rescue the republic from hmmm...whoever .....
Reply
I say these brainless wing nuts are making the same mistake that we made in late 70s and early 80s in California. We used to think that gay people because of the way some of them talked and walked are bunch of sissies and push overs and the kind of people who would roll instantly if pushed a little bit but then ...
came the end of Dan White trial. Dan White was the man who killed mayor Mayor Moscone and Harvey Milk. (Movie Milk by Sean Penn)Dan White's defense used what later was coined as "twinkie" defense. He got 8 years for murdering two city officials one of them gay, Milk.
SF gay community went on rampage and rioted for three nights and days, they took Diane Feinstein , acting mayor then, a hostage for I don't remember maybe the whole three days inside the city hall. They burned cars and went totally nuts....
We were shocked that gays can actually do all those violent things hahahahahhah
they shed that sissie image for ever, they were taken more seriously after that...and they opened our eyes :)
I have a feeling that those gun toting nuts who think it is gay not to go to a political meeting or a presidential event without wearing your gun are up for a surprise. I hope they shape up and smarten up.
Those dumb as s es who take their guns to these events will regret that decision to the rest of their lives. Their names will be on FBI watch list till the day they die, their emails, mails, calls, activities, hmmmm.... their sorry as ses better watch how they will buy their next bag of joint, met or what have you....big brother is watching now...
They are going to learn first hand how US Federal Government works and protects itself hahahahhahahhh
The Mexican drug cartel made a mistake and kidnapped a US Federal Agent and tortured him to death.
I don't know what US government did to them but the cartel has never repeated that again since then...almost 20 some years ago.....-

1. You don't need your guns any more. How many are in a "well ordered militia". Those that are will be between the ages of 18 and 65 and will have a sound knowledge of military tactics, or so my propeller corrective told me years ago. Hands up those who qualify.
2.Your problem is that the civilised world look upon you as a third world country obsessed with guns when you know very well that you have subdued your main enemy in colonising the continental USA: the North American Indians. Grow up and stop harking on about guns. You don't impress. -

This tactic is not new. In Phoenix, in the early days of the invasion of Iraq, we held a 48 hour vigil against the war. On day two, a gang of Vietnam vet "bikers" showed up, virtually all of them packing. And getting in the faces of the vigilers and making threats.
Reply
The cops were there, they did nothing, and that's fine because really there was nothing TO do. the a-holes were carrying legally, and they were there hoping to scare people or possibly provoke a fight. But they were smart enough not to violate any laws.
It didn't work. They eventually got bored and left. And rookie protesters got some good experience in how to maintain their cool under adverse conditions. -
