Somebody at the White House Needs to be Fired »
Posted By Spadecaller 3 months, 1 week ago in Political OpinionApparently, the health care reform issue has caught the White House by surprise. They had no idea that folks on the left cared about the public option, they're now telling the Washington Post. What? They had no idea, they say, that it was a make or break issue for people. Again, what? That is either a lie, or the president is being staffed by idiots. How many times do we have to tell people in the White House that their lack of outreach to Democrats is going to bite them in the ass?
You don't hear similar criticism coming out of the White House about the crazy teabaggers shutting down the town hall meetings and accusing Obama of being a socialist, and Hitler. You don't hear senior White House officials calling them the right of the right, or questioning their dedication to the cause. No, they're patriotic Americans exercising their First Amendment rights, White House officials tell the press. And Republican Senator Chuck Grassley, who's been running around the country telling people that Barack Obama plans to put millions of elderly to death - never a bad word from the White House about him either. The only people that Barack Obama's White House feels comfortable deriding and dismissing in the media are the people who put him into office in the first place. Democrats.

Dear President Obama,
Reply
You better warn your advisers and staff to stop taking your most ardent supporters for granted. We are the ones that hustled a million 5-buck supporters to put you in office. You have some promises to keep – and the public option is one of them. When it comes to the midterm elections, best be reminded that you will call on us again to mobilize your base. Without the support of a Democratic Congress, how well you fare then? It’s tough enough being a black President in a nation that has over 500 hate groups dedicated to kicking your ass out of Washington … or worse. You better start listening to those of us who helped get you elected, because if we do not show up at the polls next time, your last two years in office will be lonely ones. We hired you to do the job of fixing a dysfunctional health care system and gave you all the tools that any President could want. Now, it’s time for you to deliver and to show some respect for those of us who worked hard to put you in office. Stop trying to romance the GOP; they care nothing about your goals and would rather see you fail at any cost. So, fire it up and show us that your campaign promises were more than just a cheap sales pitch. We have millions of uninsured and under-insured Americans desperately waiting for you to do your job.-

I'll let you in on a dirty little secret. You control both houses. You have a filibuster proof majority in the Senate. You can pass this anytime you want. This is all charade, This is all theater. The Democrats are looking for political cover from the Republicans on this. Make our day....PASS IT on your own. -

Well Spade, I fear that you have been naive. It has been clear for a long time that Obama is not much different than Bush - both having been "picked" by our corrupt oligarchs and then "packaged" for voters. Health care is no different than many other issues. Obama's "rhetoric" is very different from his actions, which mostly serve to cement in the abuses of the Bush administration and increase the power of the corrupt oligarchs.

Liberals Are Going Nowhere With Obama
The American empire has not altered under Barack Obama. It kills as brutally and indiscriminately in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan as it did under George W. Bush. It steals from the U.S. treasury to enrich the corporate elite as rapaciously. It will not give us universal health care, abolish the Bush secrecy laws, end torture or “extraordinary rendition,” restore habeas corpus or halt the warrantless wiretapping and monitoring of citizens. It will not push through significant environmental reform, regulate Wall Street or end our relationship with private contractors that provide mercenary armies to fight our imperial wars and produce useless and costly weapons systems.
The sad reality is that all the well-meaning groups and individuals who challenge our permanent war economy and the doctrine of pre-emptive war, who care about sustainable energy, fight for civil liberties and want corporate malfeasance to end, were once again suckered by the Democratic Party. They were had. It is not a new story. The Democrats have been doing this to us since Bill Clinton. It is the same old merry-go-round, only with Obama branding. And if we have not learned by now that the system is broken, that as citizens we do not matter to our political elite, that we live in a corporate state where our welfare and our interests are irrelevant, we are in serious trouble. Our last hope is to step outside of the two-party system and build movements that defy the Democrats and the Republicans. If we fail to do this, we will continue to undergo a corporate coup d’etat in slow motion that will end in feudalism.....

Well, you may think you are amongst Obama's most ardent supporters, but how much money have you given him? Can you compete with big pharma or big insurance when it comes to raw cash?

Obama got your vote, and that's really all he needed from you. Now it's back to the bipartisan business of business, aka, the corporatocracy.

"Yes, the same way the smartest people in the world over at the White House were mystified that a simple issue like comparing gay marriage to incest and pedophilia would cause an outright rupture with the gay community, after we warned them for months, publicly and privately, that there would be such a rupture, here we go again with the surprise over the rupture over health care reform. No one could have seen it coming. Right."

I think this issue has more to do with drawing a line in the sand and telling the WH that we, the voters, want our elected officials to stop backing off!

However, I am still more in favor of single-payer and believe that a public option may not work the way we perceive it to.-

I also prefer a single payer system; but currently I do not see enough representation in Congress to pass that. I would like to see Medicare expanded to cover the uninsured and the under-insured. I would also like to see the tax breaks for the rich that were given away by Bush used to support this expansion.

Your ignorance abounds. What happened to the revenue from that tax cut??? It went up sharply.

Kennedy understood that and he was the last Democrat to understand the concept of the Laffer curve and what it represented. That concept goes back to the middle ages. Something that liberals never understand is that people will change their behavior to get or keep money. Liberals never understand that the wealthy have lawyers and accountants to protect their money from higher taxes. Raise it and it gets protected while lowering taxes has it more in the open earning money that can be taxed. -

By returning to the tax rates before Bush took over and by eliminating corporate welfare, we will have more than enough to stabilize Medicare and to extend to the uninsured and under-insured.

Some may perceive this as class warfare; however, it is in fact a return to the tax code before Bush declared war on the middle class and gave away tax money to the richest members of our society.-

I stopped reading your comments weeks ago as you always begin with personal attacks such as "your ignorance abounds" or "looney left"...should you ever learn to communicate with respect, I will start reading your comments again. -

Wow. Still being hypercritical. I find it scary that you defend the richest 400 in America paying less taxes then the middle class. They make more, use more but don't pay their fair share of taxes. That's perfectly okay with you. What's one of Christ's teachings? Something about giving Caesar what Caesar is due?

Actually from what I've read the Kennedy tax cuts basically were a wash.-Revenue neutral. The Reagan cuts however resulted in the deficit increasing by 5 times. There was a great article in the Miami paper years ago. Showed step by step how Regans cuts were a disaster.
