I have limited income and I make do. By what reasoning do you think I should be forced to pay for YOUR health care? Does my income belong to me or to you? If it belongs to me, I think I have a say over how it is spent. Tell me how my reasoning is wrong please.

Ok, I don't know what is exactly planned for you down there in regards to healthcare, but up here we do have a government funded plan, the reason I call it a government funded plan is that is exactly what it is. When people go to the doctor the doctor does not ask if you drink, smoke, do drugs, eat to excess, or in general do stupid things, what he does is find our what is wrong with you and treats you, he receives payment for your visit and your treatment is paid for by funds from the federal and provincial governments.

So the way I see it under our plan is it's still my body, and the choice to look after it or not is still mine. Any person can have medical problems regardless of how they choose to live and if an insurance denies coverage because of excisting problems does not this also mean that they wish to have control of your body,(well the healthy ones anyways). -

FTA: "So let's make up our minds. Does the government, in the last analysis, own your body, or do you? If your answer is the former, be aware that you have opted for veterinary medicine, for you are now accepting the moral status of a domestic animal. If your answer is the latter, you must accept responsibility to make mortal decisions for yourself, and pay for the care that you want with money that you have reason to see as your own."
