Justice Department's Ethics Office Wants Attorney General to Reopen Prisoner Abuse Cases »
Posted By Newperson 3 months ago in Political NewsThe Justice Department's ethics office has recommended that Attorney General Eric Holder reopen and pursue several CIA prisoner-abuse cases, a government official said Monday, amid a report that President Barack Obama has approved creation of a special unit of interrogators reporting directly to the White House.
Subjecting prisoner abuse cases to possible prosecution would reverse the policy of the Bush administration, which had closed the cases. Such a move could expose CIA employees and agency contractors to criminal prosecution for the alleged mistreatment of terror suspects in the years after the Sept. 11 attacks.
The Justice report is said to reveal how interrogators conducted mock executions and threatened at least one man with a gun and a power drill. Threatening a prisoner with death violates U.S. anti-torture laws. A federal judge has ordered the IG report made public Monday, in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union.

If you could provide empirical evidence demonstrating that it is an effective method in consistently providing solid intel, you might have something to stand on. Please present your evidence.

Placing the practicality of such methods aside, are we to take a moral high road or be equal to those we are fighting? If we become as those we oppose, haven't they accomplished what they wanted? -

So what if the person was responsible for over 300 deaths in one case and 17 in the other. That means nothing to the silly liberals. This was not under the last president. The person wore a gun into the room and never took it out. The power drill was not used either but just present. But liberals never look at that simple fact. Police use things like that all of the time.

Each agency has internal policing of things like this and they do a good job. This attacking of these people will make it difficult for anyone to do anything other than pat the terrorists on their head for fear of another witch hunt like this one. Why do liberals always want to destroy the people protecting us.

Funny how those self-styled "patriots" who are afraid of the truth have dropped this one.

What you are so afraid of? Is your pretend "patriotism" so fragile that you can't even admit any American, at any time, has ever broken the law?
Nobody is above the law in America. Those who broke it by illegally torturing prisoners are not above the law.
Get over it. Pull up your big-boy pants. And stop being such cowards wrapped in the flag.-

The problem is that all of these were previously looked andt and found to not go across the line. But the liberals want to draw new lines and make the people defending us afraid to do anything or else another witch hunt by liberals will go after them. People have done things wrong and the ones investigating what happened had them punished. This witch hunt is going after what liberals want the line to be drawn at instead of the working line that has been used for a long time.

I hope you dont think that prisoner abuse is something new to war. Even in the civil war the 10s of thousands of confederates that died in our own Union camps in the north. Talking to some of the old WW vets and Nam vets waterboarding was very tame to things they saw.

You republican losers want nothing more to have americans attacked or to act like barbarians, or both. Guns at town hall meetings, not taking the high road with our prisoners, you'd much rather torture someones pet or a prisoner instead of acting like a real patriot. Obama's your president get over it.
