Justice Department's Ethics Office Wants Attorney General to Reopen Prisoner Abuse Cases »

Posted By Newperson 3 months ago in Political News

The Justice Department's ethics office has recommended that Attorney General Eric Holder reopen and pursue several CIA prisoner-abuse cases, a government official said Monday, amid a report that President Barack Obama has approved creation of a special unit of interrogators reporting directly to the White House.
Subjecting prisoner abuse cases to possible prosecution would reverse the policy of the Bush administration, which had closed the cases. Such a move could expose CIA employees and agency contractors to criminal prosecution for the alleged mistreatment of terror suspects in the years after the Sept. 11 attacks.
The Justice report is said to reveal how interrogators conducted mock executions and threatened at least one man with a gun and a power drill. Threatening a prisoner with death violates U.S. anti-torture laws. A federal judge has ordered the IG report made public Monday, in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union.

Threatening a prisoner with death violates U.S. anti-torture laws.
Seems the bush administration had no regard for such laws

America continues to creat terrorists through it's illegal bombing of civilians in Iraq, Afganistan and now Pakistan. Until we expose the real terrorists of 9-11 we will be less safe.

Funny how those self-styled "patriots" who are afraid of the truth have dropped this one.

What you are so afraid of? Is your pretend "patriotism" so fragile that you can't even admit any American, at any time, has ever broken the law?

Nobody is above the law in America. Those who broke it by illegally torturing prisoners are not above the law.

Get over it. Pull up your big-boy pants. And stop being such cowards wrapped in the flag.

anything to distract from the fact that we are still fighting and that curious george has no intent on bringing the troops home unless he needs them to quell the revolution here at home.

I hope you dont think that prisoner abuse is something new to war. Even in the civil war the 10s of thousands of confederates that died in our own Union camps in the north. Talking to some of the old WW vets and Nam vets waterboarding was very tame to things they saw.

You republican losers want nothing more to have americans attacked or to act like barbarians, or both. Guns at town hall meetings, not taking the high road with our prisoners, you'd much rather torture someones pet or a prisoner instead of acting like a real patriot. Obama's your president get over it.

This is an example of the Obama War Machine deflecting the fact that 2009 has been the deadliest in Afghanistan since the war began.
