History speaks loudly...over and over the future is missing our predetermination to survive.
# predestination: (theology) being determined in advance; especially the doctrine (usually associated with Calvin) that God has foreordained every ...
# a mental determination or resolve in advance; an antecedent intention to do something; "he entered the argument with a predetermination to prove me wrong"
# the act of determining or ordaining in advance what is to take place

If you want to live in a swamp like Florida or Louisiana and be the target of hurricaines then you better plan to pay for the risks involved. Same for people in earthquake prone areas.

I remember years ago in Texas the insurance rates were fixed and people who had vacation homes along rivers and lakes would get their home rebuilt every few years. Their insurance rates never went up. -

Those poor insurance companies actually had to pay out (think BOO HOO) They take money every year from us and then try to cheat, steal, and lie their way to bigger premiums every year. I'm glad when they have to pay out then those "Fat Cats" don't get to pad their damned pockets with my money. Insurance is like Vegas baby, the house never loses! I wish they had to pay out billions every year. It stimulates the economy!

I bought a house in Florida, Gulf side. A reposessed home on a quiet street, working mans neighborhood. Appraised at one time for $80,000.00 asking price $32,000, I paid $25,000.00, it was in pretty crude condition. The insurance on it is $2,900.00 a year. Not all homes in Florida are at risk in hurricanes. My Michigan home is insured for $200,000, I pay $800.00 a year, tornados are just as big a hazzard in the Mid-west. Insurance companies get their risk money back where they can. Bend over America

Hurricanes fade-out when on land because of trees, buildings, etc. I invented a kind of huge kevlar parachute attached to a tower that is engaged at sea to capture the winds & reduce the storm to a depression....alfredschrader@aol.com

There are places all over the country where being near water gets very high insurance. Near Detroit there is an area that was developed more recently because it is in a flood plain. Other places like that exist. I live in Florida and I live several miles inland. Therefore I do not get rated. People can chose to live in dangerous places and they will have to be willing to accept the problems with living there.

Water front property is expensive two ways. First the cost to buy it and second the cost of insurance. Keep in mind that the expensive insurance is underwritten by the Federal Government. Your tax dollars at work. I disagree with that. -
