CREW Advises MSNBC to Pull Deceptive Health Care Ad »
Posted By Spadecaller 2 months, 3 weeks ago in Political NewsCitizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) sent a letter to MSNBC President Phil Griffin asking that MSNBC stop airing an ad sponsored by the U.S. Citizens Association. The ad, which ran during Morning Joe, violates Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations and NBC’s advertising policy. The spurious advertisement opposes health care reform and includes the following statements:
· Government can tax and print money, which will eliminate private health care and impose socialized medicine.
· You will wait months and years for treatment. Many people will not get treated at all.
· You will pay for free health care for over 20 million illegal aliens.

I like that one!
This completely false characterization attempts to exploit the mob mentality flaunted by the GOP xenophobes of which the party is so abundantly endowed. Using the hatred of the party’s fringe has become a regular practice for the GOP leaders and insurance company lobbyists.
Of course, the health care plan does not provide any benefits for illegal aliens who are currently using our hospitals and emergency rooms … but let’s not remind anyone that they are the “Guest Workers” inconspicuously invited by former President Bush and paid for by his corporate cronies.-

The wording about illegal aliens is in one or more of the bills. But liberals who want it just rant that it is not there. The next thing is going to be the race card. Republicans are fighting it because of hatred for Hispanics.

Poor liberals can't makeup their minds about what to say to defend this horrendous bill. Spadecaller is a prime example. He has to tell the big lie to try and make it the Bush administrations fault. Which administration stopped building the wall? OBAMA. -

I have said from the beginning the topic of illeagal immigration and health care must BOTH be dealed with. It does not matter what party you re in, you would have to be lying to say that illeagal immigration does not effect the health care cost.

CREW Executive Director Melanie Sloan stated, “The ad goes beyond misleading and well into delusional. There is no reasonable explanation for airing an ad that irrationally argues because the government can tax and print money, private healthcare will be eliminated. MSNBC should be embarrassed this one got through and pull it immediately.”

The obscene one is repeating the lie of a liar. What a concept. CREW twisted what was said into nuttiness and obscene one told the lie here. Barney Frank admitted that the intent of the bill is to kill private insurance in a few years. How?
Reply
1. All employers will be forced to pay for insurance.
2. Private insurance is about $12,000 a year.
3. The public option is at 8 or 8.5% of the persons salary.
Lets see here, 8.5% of $50,000 is $4,250.
$12,000 vs $4,250
Which one will the employer pay for? This is a no brainer. As the private insurance contracts run out they will go with the public option thus killing the private insurers.
WHY DO LIBERALS LOVE TO LIE?????

No problems here, Spadecaller. I'm using Safari (which is way easier on the eyes, btw) and they show up just fine. I thought it might be a browser specific issue but they show up on Firefox fine as well. Unfortunately, I can't test it out on IE. Hope that helps.

I saw the ad. It's beyond the kind of crap the Republicans usually put out there. It doesn't even make an effort to stretch the truth.
Reply
It's pure fiction. And MSNBC has no problem with it, even though it violates FCC regs and MSNBC's own advertising policies.
Then again, if MSNBC has decided its rules no longer mean anything, and anything goes, then perhaps it's time we ran a few ads about closeted Republican members of Congress...
Or better yet, a few ads about MSNBC's willingness to run anything as long as they get paid... -

If those who are concerned about illegal immigrants took a look at our system up here they might be supporting a government run program, to receive services up here you have to have a registration card that you have to show to get medical help or even just see the doctor, so no card no help. As for the media and lies its just a situation of they will print anything to generate revenue and then theres the problem when stories are put out that are merely opinions and are not backed up by fact but just other opinions. This is the second time that I have seen the bending of the truth in regards to healthcare, once up here many years ago, and now in your country, and both times the lies have been very similiar.

What makes you think these people want to understand anything? They have one goal--to protect insurance company profits and to mindlessly attack any approach they view as left of center. -

Wrong. You are ignoring what your own head of the Canadian Medical association is saying about Canadian health care. It is "sick" and "imploding". The reason is that going to a primary doctor is easy but getting treatment that is out of the ordinary takes at least 4 months and climbing. Seeing a specialist take again that 4 months and getting the treatment they want adds that other 4 months to the time to get treatment. The court cases in Quebec in 2005 ordered private health care to be allowed because as the Head justice said health dcare is a right but a waiting list is not. Take a good look at what your own doctors are saying about the mess there. People are dying waiting for treatment.

Are you saying this British person being interviewed is lying? I clicked on the link in the story that sent me to this interview. Keep in mind that Daschle wrote a book taking the British health care system as his model and the Democrats are using that book as their source for writing the bills in congress now. This man is a liar I take it.

Obamacare won't cover illegal immigrants? Yes it will, says Congressional Research Service
Reply
By: Mark Tapscott
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com
Among the many claims being made durng the August recess by Democrats from President Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-CA, to the lowliest back-bencher is that Obamacare absolutely, positively, cannot possibly ever in a million, zillion years provide coverage to illegal immigrants.
Just this past weekend during his regular Saturday address - devoted to addressing what he called "false claims about reform" - Obama said he wants "an honest debate" on health care reform, "not one dominated by willful misrepresentations and outright distortions."
Well, Mr. President, that idea must have been tucked under a stack of background briefing papers over there in the corner of the table because the Congressional Research Service (CRS) says this about H.R. 3200, the Obamacare bill approved just before the recess by the House Energy and Commerce Committee chaired by Rep. Henry Waxman, D-CA:
"Under H.R. 3200, a 'Health Insurance Exchange' would begin operation in 2013 and would offer private plans alongside a public option…H.R. 3200 does not contain any restrictions on noncitzens—whether legally or illegally present, or in the United States temporarily or permanently—participating in the Exchange."
Ya need to remember when Obama talks and the subject includes math, history, numbers or facts he is usually wrong. -

Congressional Research Service.
In other words there is NO requirement for legal citizenship, there is no means by which can be checked, therefore illegal aliens will be covered.
It’s hard to believe this still needs to be stated.
There is no I-9 type requirement; ya now a long form birth certificate, the minimum you have to have to legally get a job in the USA.
So now the onus is on those who say illegal aliens will NOT be covered.
HOW. How will illegal aliens be prevented from being covered.
Were waiting……-

You are talking about the insurance exchange. That's where you BUY insurance. What the bill says is that anyone who can afford it can buy the basic insurance policy. That's not GIVING illegals anything other than the ability to BUY insurance.

Yes, a self-serving band of greedy hate-mongers exploited by a network of corporate thugs have pretty much taken over Washington and mainstream media. Other than a few exceptional individuals, during the past decade our government has been transformed into an organization that better resembles the Russian black market. International commerce is a nice term for legalized smuggling, which pretty much characterizes our economic foreign policy today. The sad consequences of thes changes have squeezed American labor and manufacturing from the picture.
Between the influence of the military industrial complex, the oil corporations, and the health care industrial complex, the power of representation in Washington has dismantled what once was something that resembled a representative democracy.
What we have now is a corporate dictatorship with a Washington DC storefront that has two bathrooms; one for the GOP and the other for the Democrats, where they pee and crap all over the constitution that we had at one time tried to defend and to preserve. Few are willing to recognize the dissolution of our government and its glaring separation from those who are the governed. We the people exist in name only. On election day, those of us who still vote show up to elect those will serve the lobbyists for the next term. -

The problem is a lot of them are criminals and then take up jail space. Other take work away from people legally here because they will work for less. The lawn care people are being taken over by these people and those with business have to hire them in order to stay in business. That makes the legal people that have no skills look elsewhere for work and many times the illegals are there first. Why do you ignore that citizens are losing jobs to these people!!!!!!!!!

Shame on you.”
We just try and follow the lead of our GREAT leaders like Ted Kennedy.
BTW, thanks for the opening!
Kennedy’s statement broadcast nationally from Joseph P. Kennedy's home on 25 July 1969
Ted Kennedy : “On Chappaquiddick Island, off Martha's Vineyard, I attended, on Friday evening, July 18, a cook-out, I had encouraged and helped sponsor for devoted group of Kennedy campaign secretaries. When I left the party, around 11:15 P.M., I was accompanied by one of these girls, Miss Mary Jo Kopechne.”
around 11:15 P.M.
Joyce Carol Oates :”leaving the young woman to die an agonising death not of drowning but of suffocation over a period of hours”.
Hours as in more than 2, yes?
Ted Kennedy : “Instead of looking directly for a telephone after lying exhausted in the grass for an undetermined time, I walked back to the cottage where the party was being held and requested the help of two friends, my cousin, Joseph Gargan and Phil Markham, and directed them to return immediately to the scene with me -- this was sometime after midnight”
Walked back to the party and got 3 other people took them back to the seen.
Note: Sometime after midnight, but before 2:00 am.
Miss Mary Jo Kopechne was STILL ALIVE AT THIS TIME!
Accident around 11:15 P.M.,
Ted Kennedy was back in his hotel room about 2 A.M.
Can ya follow the timeline here? 2 hours and 45 min. got it?
Joyce Carol Oates :“death not of drowning but of suffocation over a period of hours.”
2 hours after the Accident would be 1:15 am, Miss Mary Jo Kopechne was STILL ALIVE, and Teddy “poor thing” was exhausted and heading for The ferry, that was shut down for the night.
Guess Teddy and his friends must have gone back to the bridge, the one where Mary Jo Kopechne, still alive, but running out of air, crossed it in order to get to the mainland where Teddy’s hotel room was located, about 2 A.M.
Joyce Carol Oates :“death not of drowning but of suffocation over a period of hours.”
It’s fair to conclude Mary Jo was still alive as “Teddy” passed out in his hotel room.
Teddy, what a guy!-

First of all, I agree with you that the death of Mary Jo Kopechne is the one big stain on Kennedy's life and career that can not be easily explained away. I disagree with you that she was alive for more than few minutes. The car filled up with water quickly and the brain dies within 5-6 minutes without oxygen.
Reply
Kennedy absolutely was a flawed human being. I personally never wanted him to become president. when he ran in 1980.
In the 1970's DUI was treated as a misdemeanor in all states (correct me if needed, you legal experts). Even DUI's with fatalities were often punished lightly. Does that excuse Kennedy in any way? Of course not. Kennedy was just damn lucky in the Chappaqiddick death.
Having said that, how do you balance the death of Kopechne against the tremendous good Kennedy has done for the poor, the elderly, the physically and mentally handicapped, the minorities, immigrants, gays and lesbians, AIDS and HIV patients, cancer patients, for education for civil rights, for international human rights? And there is his most ardent cause - health care insurance for all Americans.
Does the death of one human being negate the good and improvement in the lives of millions?
Kennedy co-sponsored over 1500 bills, personally wrote over 300 bills, and has his name on over 1000 laws passed. He was a diligent and passionate spokesman for his causes and advocate for his constituents.
I do not have any magic formula to figure the calculus of a man's life, his failures and successes, his good and bad. Every person has to make that determination based on his or her own values and biases.
I come down ultimately on the side of praise for the sum of Kennedy's life. Without him, the millions who have benefitted from his work would either not have benefitted at all or have been delayed by decades or even generations.
You, of course, have every right to your own conclusion about Kennedy. No person is all good or all bad. I can only remind you of the tremendous good Kennedy HAS done and ask for a fair assessment from you.
As an aside, on the balance, how does the unnecessary deaths of 4300 US servicemen and 600,000 innocent Iraqi civilians figure in the calculus of assessing Bush's life and record?

I take exception to the statement "has been super power", since most Canadians have never considered our country to have been a super power, and also what defines a "has been" , we have a lower debt per person than you do, we are energy self sufficient , and we are respected by most countries of the world, and we have universal medicare which to me proves a sort of patriotism that JFK talked about. When we look at our country we realize it is a country because of the people and we are willing to sacrifice a little of our hard earned cash for the betterment of all citizens, to me it gives meaning to JFKs statement of what one can do for his country. Just my thinking though and not likely shared by all.

OK! If the Radicals, (Damocratic Party), think that Illegal Aliens, (they are not immigrants), will not be included in the UNIVERSAL, (what does that mean?) Health Care Reform then I say why argue. We know they will be but then we also know their alternate plan.
The Illegal Aliens will be given immunity by some of the hidden legislation in the weeds. Yep! Those same Socialistic Congressmen intend to make them all Legal Citizens. I guess that about answers those Weak Minded Liberals Undying Faith in the Honest, (LOL), Obama Administration.
Well, our Canadian Friends think that this type of health care is very reasonable. Government control is the answer for everyone in our country getting the ultimate care. Well, I agree that it most definitely is the answer for Illegal Aliens and suggest we provide each and ever one of them bus fair to Canada so that they can get this ultimate care from the System that is actually working. Thank You Canada for Solving Our Illegal Alien Problem.
One more thing before I sign Off. I suggest we release every Illegal Alien from our prisons. We know the only reason they came here in the first place was for Health Care. As far as sharecroppers are concern I would think they did not come here to only help us harvest our crops. Notice that many of them just seem to slip through the cracks of our security. Many of them are now Slaves of the Damocratic Congressmen. After all arn't the Damocrats the Party of the Rich. It seems like Obama had and spent more money on his election that any other Candidate.
