Why the GOP Is Gunning for Grandma »
Posted By Tumultuous 4 months ago in Political NewsThe republicans charge that Democratic health care reform would, in Sen. Charles Grassley's words, "pull the plug on Grandma." According to Sen. Jon Kyl, the bills before Congress would ration medical treatment by age. Rep. John Boehner says they promote euthanasia. Sarah Palin has raised the specter of "death panels." Such fears are understandable. It's not preposterous to imagine laws that would try to save money by encouraging the inconvenient elderly to make an early exit. After all, that's been the Republican policy for years.

Sorry to be the one to introduce the pesky fact that none of us are going to get out of this life alive. Also sorry to point out the fact that it makes more sense allocate medical resources to people who have their whole lives ahead of them, instead of allocating them to octogenarians. Nice as it would be, you can’t keep granny alive forever.

c-t-c, you have framed it about as well as anyone can... and certainly in line with what the President had been saying until someone clued him in about the horror of the consequences of what he was saying.
The GOP need not say any more than point out what you are saying... yet you and yours strenuously chant that the GOP is lying.

The GOP and their lie factories are just purely despicable. PERIOD! Get rid of as many of them as you can. Make them so marginal that they are no more than a footnote and have absolutely no say in anything! That is what they deserve. They don't respect the American people so we will disrespect them right back!

The death panels are already active in Medicaid in the state of Oregon. A woman with cancer was denied treatment of a chemotherapy drug that has proven very effective in treating her kind of cancer. The state would pay for comfort medicine and euthanasia consultation with a doctor. When it made the news in Portland the drug company provided the two months of the drug for free at $8,000. Big bad big pharma helped while the nice Medicaid people told her to just die.
The tax increase is in the control of the Democrats who never saw a tax increase they did not like but he blames the increase on the Republicans.
Obama did such a good thing in allowing infant stem cell research. The big problem is that it has been left behind with using the bodies own stem cells to do what need to be done with NO WORRY ABOUT REJECTION. That research has been paying off big in several areas already.
This man is an idiot of the first order. His arguments are very flawed.-

Are you suggesting that the current state of insurance company-run medicine does not approve or disapprove inappropriate treatments?
Reply
Are you sure that the treatment in question was appropriate for the diagnosis?
Are you sure that there is no promise in embryoic stem cell research when nearl all experts feel there is great promise?

I guess I'm a little confused here: Can't the democrats if they are sooo concerned about Granny pen a new law to stop the 0-55% jump? I mean, this has been coming for some time now hasn't it? I didn't see anyone last year doing anything about it, or the year before that, or the year before that. I'm not seeing democrats doing anything about it now - and they can correct? So who is really to blame here?
