Almost half of the United States, three-quarters of Canada, almost all of Europe, the plains of the Levant, and much of the rest of the world were forested. The forests have been mostly removed for fuel, building materials and to clear land for farming. These are facts and just because you happen to be living adjacent to 10,000 acres of forest does not negate these facts.

read old indian stories of how many giant trees there once were all over what is now America.more trees now?tell me who do you think your foolin'?about the fire threat...nature does everything for a reason.IF the trees would just catch fire ...there would be no pristine forest left or giant trees that take half centuries or more to mature.for us to allow the few giant trees left to be cut is a shame.

yes the "old growth" forests are dissappearing, but unlike the far left environmentalists chants.... that doesnt mean "environmental catastrophe". Nature has its own way of getting rid of things that even the far left enviros dont like. But it shows their inteptitude and lack of credible science. To use a football analogy, they keep moving the goal posts. So that no matter what you do...its NEVER ENOUGH. PLANT more trees in the last 250 years than were ever HERE before then...not good enough. Spend billions of dollars cleaning up rivers and land, NOT good enough. Come up with the most fuel efficient vehicles in history NOT GOOD ENOUGH ...they want to ban fossil fuels. Switch to electric cars...then work on banning COAL FUELED electrical generation plants. Demand using less fossil fuels, but NUCLEAR POWER...NOOOO..

All the shopping mall parking lots and urban sprawls were covered by trees ,as late as 20-50 years ago .

To make statement that there are more forests than when Columbus came to the shores of America is lughable.
Than again maybe GW IS right if we don't have forests there would be no forests fires.Lets prevent forest fires, cut down all the trees. -

taken down, burned up or ending up in landfills,etc. than are
being replemised to balance supply and demand. The less trees
there are, ( which soak up CO-2 and other pollutants while
putting out oxygen ) the less HEALTHY we are becoming, year
after year. Thanks to big corporation$, The BALANCE of NATURE
is way out of whack. This CAN be turned around if enough
people are aware to care. Plants some trees for future LIFE. -

If humans don't make some changes soon you can be sure that pandemics of far greater severity will start breaking out worldwide within a decade. Something has got to give. We can do things as a species to correct some of the things we have done without going back to the stone age. It is a matter of a will to act. Not that long ago the Earth's ozone layer was being rapidly depleted by hydroflurocarbons. The nations of the world got together and banned their use with the result that the ozone layer has begun to repair itself. Had we not done this, the thinning of this protective layer would have left the world to bath in ever increasing amounts of ultraviolet radiation. First we would have had a huge increase in skin cancer, and in time this would have sterilized the majority of plant an animal species of the planets surface.

To MANY PEOPLE on the planet! Use to much natural resources and create to much trash! We are NOT an endagered species! We should have goverment sponsored birth control, as should every country. Especially Asian countrys and Mexico. Babies are NOT gifts from god but our planet is. Overpopulation is the cause of all the enviromental problems and most of the wars... Overcrowding.
