Why Do Christians Not Celebrate The Holidays That Jesus Did? »

Posted By Revelation1412 4 months, 1 week ago in Religion

Did God intend for Jews and Christians to have different religions? Did Jesus Christ come to this earth to set up an entirely new religion or was He a continuation of what God had already been doing since the beginning of time? Why do Christians today practice holidays and traditions that are completely different from the holidays and the traditions that the early apostles practiced?

Because the appearance of Jesus signaled a whole new way of thinking...moving away from the violent and vengeful God of the old testament to the kind and caring God of the new testament. The Jewish religion is welcome to join the message of Jesus but it is their choice not to as they don't believe he was the messiah...that the messiah is yet to come.

Personally, both sides are welcome to believe what they want. I don't think God cares either. Personally, I choose to believe neither as I don't believe any of it. It's all about mind control and power and money of the churches.

I DO believe the teachings of Jesus as everyone should. They are common sense. I don't need some anal preacher to tell me what to believe as apparently millions of mindless drones do with their allegiance to the dangerous right wing of this country.

Since the NT instructs us to treat each day the same, neither Jewish nor Christian holidays are relevant any longer.

Jewish holidays were symbolic of Christ, which upon fulfillment rendered them moot (at least on some level).

Still, I for one agree that those Christians determined to celebrate a holiday and attach meaning to it over and above other days, it's best they follow the Jewish calendar and Jewish temple rites. As long as they do not fall into the trap of ranking believers by their level of adherence, no harm can be done. Hopefully by doing so, the meaning and substance of Jewish holidays can be preserved.

[Yes, I understand my opinion falls hard on Jewish ears. No offense intended...just a Christian's perspective.]
