Health Care - Right or Privilege? »
Posted By Spadecaller 2 months, 3 weeks ago in Political OpinionWhy shouldn’t all Americans be eligible for the same health care benefits they provide their public servants with in Washington? Why is it a privilege only available to the richest Americans and to those who represent the government? Well, lets face the truth: as it stands today in the United States, those that have unrestricted access to the best health care available make up an elite group of policyholders.
The average insured person must accept the limitations of their insurance policy when they get sick. Until that day comes most of them walk around believing that they are well protected. The ignorance of most people regarding their insurance protection is astounding. And, for the rest of the population they are either uninsured, partially insured, or they have an HMO. Now if you want to talk about rationing... there is nothing worse than an HMO when it comes to that.
Unfortunately, many Americans first have to get sick. That is when they discover that they do not have the benefits necessary to get well or to get the best treatments, and it is too late to seek out other insurance. The truth is that most Americans are exploited by the insurance companies and will not be eligible to receive the kind of care that only a fraction of the people in this country can afford.

Why haven't Church leaders stepped forward to support the public option? In the New Testament, Jesus makes it clear that he supported care for the weakest and poorest in the community of human beings. Has the church become the political voice of the wealthy?
Reply
Why do they remain silent? Why is the church deaf to the voices of those who cannot contribute to its wealth. Is it any different with the politicians who fail to represent the voters, because their hands are stuffed deep into the pockets of the insurance and pharmcuetical companies?
Would Jesus oppose the public option that would provide access to all Americans, rich or poor, sick or healthy? Would He support a church that only speaks on behalf of the richest and most elite? Or would Jesus support a plan that would care for all its members regardless of wealth or status?
A truly spiritual leader knows the answers to those questions and would speak out without concern over the political fall-out that may or may not occur.
How do church leaders and health care providers live with these inequities? Never having to meet these people eye to eye helps.
I suppose that makes it easier for those medical providers who routinely deny care to patients seeking help. "Sorry mam, the doctor does not take your insurance. Have a nice day." How many people have heard a similar comment?
How many people have called upon a doctor offering to pay the bill in hard cash? Few will make those arrangements without all the cash up front, but the vast majority of those seeking care without
the aid of excellent insurance discover the truth: medical care is too costly for most to pay out of their own pockets.
Those who withhold medical attention rarely meet with those they turn away. They do not have to see them in the emergency rooms with their bleeding ulcers. They do not have to look into the eyes of the devoted wife whose 55 year old husband is struggling for his last breath of air. They don't want to know about what happens
to those they turn away.
Why warn people about rationing, when health care is already rationed?-

The progressive and extreme liberal thinkers among us have forced them out of the picture. They are no longer looked at as a good thing for society, put an obstacle to more control and social fairness. Churches and religion empower people to think for themselves and question thinks they find to be oppressive. The majority of church ideals raise questions on social fairness doctrines and social intrusion from central governments.

Even Christ would not believe in totally free ride on health care for anyone, except those unable to provide for themselves in any way.
The way insurance is purchased or provided is in need of correction not the system of care. Do we add another payroll deduction/tax to everyone, reduce welfare and Social Security at same rate, how do you make this a service and not a socialist government run segment of our society. I sure as hell do not want my doctor to be paid less then the average broker or lawyer. Education and training costs them a fortune and that cost you a fortune in their rates.
Health care is but a small problem in the whole scheme of things. -

Spadecaller does not understand what being a Christian is all about. He thinks up what he believes is the method of thinking and bases his concepts of what should be believed by these people. His rant about the doctors has no basis in fact. There are a large percentage of doctors that do pro bono work but he ignores that. There are groups of doctors all over the country that get together and provide free health care at free clinics. They take turns working there for free. Does Spadecaller acknowledge these doctors? Which payer do more doctors refuse to take? Medicare and Medicaid because they do not pay the cost for the visits. Other patients have to make up the differance.

Does Spadecaller look into what is the biggest causes of the high cost of health care? Absolutely not. He would have to blame Obama for not doing something about the biggest cost of high health care. Punitive damages and frivolous law suits. Some specialities have a million a year malpractice insurance and the patient has to pay for it.
Spade caller has also fallen into the liberal trap of talking about the 50 million without insurance and ignores that the real number is about 8 million. The rest are illegal aliens, people who DO NOT WANT insurance because they are young, those who really self insure because they have enough money to do it, etc.
Another item that Spadecaller ignores is that people can sue the insurance company and you can't sue the government if you don't like what they tell you under Medicaid and Medicare you are out of luck like that woman in Oregon.

This is what the government option looks like. Death panes are already at work. This is what Obama talked about for elderly people, some things are not COST effective. He said that a procedure his grandmother had a couple of years before she died really should not have had since she only lived 2 years after she had it. Safe and COST EFFECTIVE is the new standard the Democrats are pushing. -

Where in the constitution does it say that health care is a right. You can say that all have to have equal access without discrimination but that does not make it a right. All of our rights are enumerated in the constitution. Point it out liberals. Put up or shut up.

Endoscopy: "All of our rights are enumerated in the constitution."

Are they really? Would you care to list them? Would you go as far as saying that you don't have a right to anything that is not enumerated? Is breathing air enumerated? If you say that it falls under the "life" provision, then I say that health care falls under the "pursuit of happiness" provision.
