Well, the waste and inefficiency of our present system is an enormous competitive disadvantage for American companies trying to be competitive in the world. Doesn't seem to make much sense to let leech companies in the healthcare business suck the blood out of our other companies. Given that we have enormus and rapidly increasing debts to pay back to the rest of the world, we can't afford to let the "ideologues" continue to hamstring efforts to bring a sensible healthcare system to the US.
