Yes, whatever you do.....keep you're kids shielded from a message that tells them how important education is and how well they can do if only they work hard and dedicate themselves to success. We wouldn't want any of that nonsense confusing them, now would we? After all, how would they reconcile that message with the "everything democrats do or say is of the devil" message they're getting at home and at church? It might just cause a psychotic break, leading to your poor little children thinking for themselves and going to *gasp* college. Oh...the horror!

      Wrong.

Bush DID do this.....as did Clinton, H.W.Bush, and Reagan before him. There was NO outcry from anyone. Why? Because THEY were recognized as the President of the United States. Whether or not WE voted for them, WE didn't teach our kids that only "our" voted candidate is the valid one. I am not shy about saying how much I despised the past eight years under Bush, but never would I have told my kids not to respect the President enough to hear a speech he is making about school.

I really think they have their panties in a bunch for nothing. As much as I wouldn't like it, I wouldn't try and stop a Republican President from speaking to school children. They are our future. so you watch it to and talk about it with them when they get home.

i dont like the idea of politicians talking to my kids. imagine a school broadcast from cheney upon the subject of morality. or spitzer or sanford on the subject of family values. or ted kennedy on the importance of not drinking and driving. oops, too soon?

what i mean is. on the surface, this sounds good, but i'd prefer my kids not be working on some politicians youtube video on the importance of schooling.

I often wonder about people..... What type of mentality makes an issue out of the president speaking to the kids....?????? Maybe these people that oppose it, should have had better guidance when they were children.

If I had kids, I would pull them out.

The problem is that this President has a totally different view of what America is or should be from mine. He has shown himself to be "sneaky" for lack of a better word, saying one thing and then lining up people within his administration whom I don't respect and who seem to either be his instruments of damage or he is theirs ... I don't know which.

Most Americans are active in their children's lives anyway. They don't need the great orator to define who they are, what they should believe, or how they should prepare for life.

These con parent are sheltering their children from the realities of the world and teaching their children to disrespect the president. We are in for a world of trouble when these children become adults.

He can't con the people no more with his rhetoric and B.S. as the people have finally woke up and now see him for what he really is, so he is trying to get our kids to believe in his radical marxist views.

A teacher asked her 6th grade class how many of them were Obama fans. Not really knowing what an Obama fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands except for little Johnny. The teacher asked Little Johnny why he has decided to be different.
Little Johnny said, ‘Because I’m not an Obama fan.’

The teacher asked, ‘Why aren’t you an Obama fan?’

Johnny said, ‘Because I’m a Republican.’

The teacher asked him why he’s a Republican.

Little Johnny answered, ‘Well, my Mom’s a Republican and my Dad’s a Republican, so I’m a Republican.’

Annoyed by this answer, the teacher asked, ‘If your mom was a moron and your dad was an idiot, what would that make you?’

With a big smile, Little Johnny replied, ‘That would make me an Obama fan.

The people who are revolting over this ... are revolting to me as an educated citizen. President Obama IS the leader of this country, and he's doing what other presidents before him have done, so don't act as if you never heard of it or think it's going to be about what YOU think, you right-wingers.

If this was just the prez welcoming kids back to school and some words of encouragement I'd be OK with it - but this cat just can't shut up! He's always in campaign mode and is so overexposed I'm tired of his schtick! He's had more major addresses in the last 6 mo.s than the last 3 guys did combined and I think he loves his own voice so much that he searches for somebody, ANYBODY to listen - even schoolkids. If he wasn't the prez he'd be an infomercial guy.

I DON'T THINK THERES A THING THE PRESIDENT CAN DO RIGHT NOW THAT THESE PEOPLE WON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT. NOTHING HE HAS SAID OR DONE IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR THEM. WHY IS THAT OTHER PRESIDENTS OR FIRST LADIES MIGHT HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY TO CHILDREN RETURNING TO SCHOOL IS OK BUT, ITS NOT FOR THIS PRESIDENT? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE HAVE THEY ABSOLUTELY LOST THEIR FRICKEN MINDS. HE'S AN EDUCATED MAN WHAT DO THEY REALLY THINK HE COULD SAY THAT WOULD BE SO HARMFUL FOR THE MINDS OF OUR CHILDREN. HE'S JUST WANTING TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IT WILL TAKE TO KEEP OUR KIDS IN SCHOOL. THEY ARE ALL OF OUR FUTURES AFTER ALL!

This crap is so far beyond ridiculous I cannot believe it. It's become a feeding frenzy on our President. How incredibly sad. These conservative wing-nuts are a complete disgrace and an embarassment to our country. Shame on them! The absurdity of it all, the tea-bagging, the ridiclous behavior at town hall meetings, the lies being fed to us about the health care plan by insurance and pharmaceutical companies is mind-boggling! These people's minds are simply stuck on stupid and quite frankly I see no hope for any of them. Is all this nonsense because this remarkable man is half-black? What kind of craziness is that!!! Unfortunately,I believe a lot of it is. I worry about the future of our great country when I hear all this garbage and worry about drastic measures that one of these crazies might try to inflict. When is this madness going to stop? It is nauseating.
