You might think that to jog you would need to worry only about your leg muscles. They are important, but you will quickly learn that as you increase you distances, and this is true for walking too, that your lower and upper back will become stiff and hurt. One of the first things I noticed when I started jogging--just a month or so ago--is that my shin muscles bothered me. This was after jogging a short distance. Another big problem, if you do not treat them right, will be your ankles and feet. Jogging or walking without first stretching them will eventually lead to pain that will take a long time to heal.
