Many people are participants of social networking sites. Sites where people with like-minded interests share articles and stories. Digg and Propeller are two such sites. These two sites used to offer direct communication between members through "shouts" on Digg and "messages" on Propeller. That all changed in June of 2009, when Digg dropped their "shout" system and ended the communication between its members on the Digg site. This frustrated many Digg members.

There you go. If you repeat something enough it then becomes fact. We know which side the intellectuals lie on. I mean you have candidates who run based on the fact that they are not TOO smart. Then they prove there was never a need to worry about their asset called brains because it wasn't a requirement in the first place.

"Propeller was not prepared for this onslaught of conservative social networkers. Their liberal social networking site and their predominately liberal membership showed anger at the new members and their conservative messages pouring into Propeller. They added a "Political Opinion" section to their many categories at this time in order to handle the large number of political stories and articles from the large number of very active conservatives who had crossed over from Digg."

What a bunch of bs...not backed up in any way with facts or stats...
I'm not a big fan of the way comments can be hidden now, but it's certainly not censorship...you just have to do a little more work to see the answer.
And to say that just because the writer is conservative, (and has integrity and is honest) that the "system" is against her and others like her, is ridiculous without some kind of proof.

The author of this story is Lizbett. She approached me with her side of this story, and I agreed to post it. I really don't have a dog in this fight one way or the other. If you look below the article, you'll see that she submitted it to Fresh Conservative. Personally, I haven't really seen any shenanigans on the part of Propeller, but that's just me.

I was elected as a Republican in 1979. I oppose most forms of abortion, I support the death penalty, I support bored control and I oppose continued affirmative action..

It's when fools like Alpha, Nixie, Klarissa, Wolfie,Commodore, Beav, Luv mylibs and a handful of others come on here and pretend to understand conservative values, yet were willing to sail and sink on the SSGeorge Bush that I create the divide..They just don't understand true conservative values like those held by George Will, William F. Buckley et al

the groups are generally made up of people with the same likes/dislikes, so its self selecting for support.
were we seeing the other side of that in the lightning fast grounding of rightie articles, using a weakness in the grounding algorithm? it didn't take more than three or four rapid drops in quick early succession to ground something. the only theoretical way to defend an article would be to have several righties prop it as fast as possible. to defeat that, more lefties would have to be part of the special grounding forcies to shut up the right.
and it could go on from there.
having you complain about what someone else does, is pretty beneath you.
and mountainman was just a irrredeemable a$$ to anyone he didn't agree with. i'm not sure a hard ban was necessary, but i had no problem negging him. lately, the best that he could hope for from me was that i went over his post without a negging.

she was essentially trying to "game the system" with sockpuppets to run propaganda campaigns. If it really is true that "lizbett" is the reincarnated "luvmypres" and "alphagnosis", then this is a pattern of anti-social behavior that has gone on here for several years now and propeller has probably been over patient with her.
Rather ironical (and typically right-wing) that lizbett tries to complain about the results of her own anti-social behavior and blame others for "discriminating" against her.
If you look carefully at this thread, you will see that mntnman444 has been "hardbanned" for his responses to this story. Having seen his participation in propeller/netscape over years, this seemed very strange to me. Having looked at the subsequent comments to his deleted comments, I was unable to find anything that looked especially inflammatory. Frankly if someone has to go, it should probably be lizbett. By the way, it would be helpful/ instructive NOT to censor "banning comments", but to leave them so that others can both see what leads to banning and judge for themselves whether there is "bias in banning".
At the time, I predicted that the introduction of the "share" feature would lead to "sockpuppet" style campaigns that would engender many problems and potentially lead to unproductive and controversial "restrictive policies". In my opinion most of the recent "restrictive changes" to propeller are regrettable and a direct result of "facilitating propaganda campaigns" with unnecessary "share" functions. At a time when governments (e.g. of Israel) are themselves organizing "positive response campaigns", propeller should not make the job of "opinion spammers" easier.

Like Beavith say's, righties are outnumbered at this site, that is no surprise, but if anything Propeller catered to you guys when their system of drops was shutting down your stories because of the difference in numbers and it seems Prop has changed that system to your benefit. And rightly so. In my opinion, stories shouldn't be grounded, censored, based on popularity.
I for one leftie, welcome all you exiles from Digg and elsewhere and hope you keep posting the same articles that I can disagree with.-

I dropped this article because of the numerous assumptions it makes about the bias of the Propeller staff and the supposed motivations of those who fall to the left of center politically.

But I want to state that though I like the ability to express my opinion of articles or comments by voting positively or negatively on them, I have never approved of the "grounding" feature here. (I feel the same about the recently added feature that hides comments that fall below a certain pos/neg ratio.)
It seems to me that such features are far too easy to game (as we've all seen). I also believe everyone has the right to express his or her views, until doing so becomes the equivalent of Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes's famous example of shouting "fire" in a crowded theater--in other words, a threat to the public safety. -

a child could tell you there is bias on propeller. but i think most of it has to do with the fact that liberals simply outnumber conservatives here. the liberals tend to be younger, and therefore spend more time. it's up to the reader to determine merit, so i don't really care if my comment gets 15% approval or whatever. but it becomes glaringly problematic when propeller hides your comment from view, for merely holding a minority opinion.

lizbet's article brings up a good point about a few months ago when propeller was grounding conservatives stories. 6 props, 2 drops, and it was grounded. meanwhile, other stories with a similar voting pattern, were doing just fine. after somebody made a stink out of it, that finally stopped happening. so, regardless of what they may tell you, it's obvious that it isn't 100% machine driven. -

I am on Digg.. I like to support those who I have on my friends list. I see what they are up to, comment on their diggs, reply to their comments and digg their articles if I like them.

I do the very same thing on Propeller. I have noticed that Conservatives are vastly outnumbered on Digg, and Propeller is a bit more even.
Its just annoying that the articles on Digg with Liberal ideologies tend to get hundreds if not thousands of diggs. Its just a mass show of support from those on the left.
Conservative Diggs on the other hand.. if one passes 50 diggs.. its quite an achievement.
There needs to be more focus on discussion and support of any social networking site. People need to work together, not simply hunt for random articles or try to get be the "top dog"-

I have no problem with the conservatives posting their stories here, they have every right to have a voice. But when one is so hate filled and continues to post bigoted hate filled posts from non legitimate news sources and a bunch of sock puppets with no comments propping the stories to the front then you have no place here.
Posting peoples blogs as credible news and then attacking members that attempt to make a comment that this is not news but just "opinion" is why there is now an "Political Opinion" category because this whole situation was getting out of hand.
Propeller has dealt with luv/alpha/redtom/nixie/liz/etc the best they could with some one who was repeatedly gaming the system and causing KAOS among the community.
If you want to find a good right sided site with out all us leftie loonies then go to "trustserve" and you can rant there all day with like minded people.
Here at Propeller we are all for free speech, but not for a bunch of hate filled ranting posts full of continuous lies, name calling, etc. I for one am so glad to see the civility return on our site, we are much better off with out all the incitement of hate filled posts.-

In comparasion, this is a relatively small community. When you look at Digg, Mixx etc, Propeller is small potatoes, so why don't you concentrate on the bigger payoff, reach more people yada yada, OR have you been banned from those sites too, and now the only thing left for you is blog sites??? The venom and bile you spew is what gets you banned, never posting "real" stories, and creating sock puppets to boost your stories are what constantly gets you banned. However, you aren't satisfied to do it the right way, with one id, news from reputable sources and without spewing racist hatred. You have to have hundreds of id's, post garbage from blogs, use your sock puppets to boost your stories to the front page immediately, and spew racist hatred constantly.
Before you pass judgement on the rest of us, look in the mirror and try to figure out what's wrong with the person looking back at you! Maybe then you will be able to create an id somewhere and stay there for more than a few days.-

What propeller needs is a second site called the dark side, a place where the sock puppets or those wishing can post there BS stories can go to not debate but just argue about things, a place where no rules apply.

I like to have stories where both the left and right can put in comments and people actually look for solutions to problems or provide information where one can maybe better improve their understanding of a topic even if the information is contriversial.
As for the censoring of Conservative thought I really didn't look at it as censoring but more of one group ganging up to game the system in their favor.
