Part of what has led modern man into crisis after crisis of his own making is his misapprehension of his role in nature.

Many religions tell man that he is supernatural, above the animals, above nature. This results in all sorts of mistaken ideas. Man thinks that he is separate from nature, that he can control nature, that nature is a problem and technology the solution. All of these notions are delusory.
