Many religions tell man that he is supernatural, above the animals, above nature. This results in all sorts of mistaken ideas. Man thinks that he is separate from nature, that he can control nature, that nature is a problem and technology the solution. All of these notions are delusory.
Man, like all other living beings, is a part of natures cycles, a participant in nature's dance. He is at his best when he is a willing and conscious participant in the dance. When he fights nature, he is like a man who crawls far out on a limb and then begins to saw the limb off. He is severing himself from that which sustains him.-
