This is all about a startup company not established companies. That is a time when everybody working there is taking a chance. Costs have to be kept down until the company is assured of survival and is making a good profit.

Established companies are a different ball game. At that point when replacing top level people you want to get the best you can afford. The better top level people set the tone for the lower level people and set up how the company runs to be more successful. To get the best at this you have to pay for it.-

Tell that to Ford. Some years ago one of the Ford family fired their ceo and took over the company himself. Major changes were made. The trucks were made much stronger. The Mustang was much improved. There were many internal changes also. Then he hired the ceo back. Look where Ford id now.
